Mike
Glad to see you are back and posting. You must not have that many problems if your wife is letting you stay on the computer.
Nah
Life is already pretty much back to normal for me. But I’m still not sure if I’m going to work tomorrow or what. Downtown Houston got hit pretty hard.
Let me stay on the computer? Puh-leeez. I’m the man. I do what I want.
If you’ll excuse me I have a diaper to change.

Clark was a little off target yesterday
If I would try to find something to be upset with thats what it would be. He should be able to complete at least 50% closer to 60% against a team like Syracuse. Overall another good performance though.

D-line is an orange flag.
Not a red flag, but something to monitor. Only 5 tfls, 3 sacks, 3 QB hurries and zero forced fumbles in the last two games against marginal opponents. I know PSU let off the gas, but I would have liked to have seen more pressure on the QB, especially with Williams and Painter on the horizon. Evans and Koroma could fix that.
How in the name of John Hufnagel
could Clark not start instead of he who shall not be named? And don’t tell me he earned it because he was a senior. Joe can’t see that he gotta go.
Who did Painter and Boeckman remind you of last night?
I think.....
you have a point there. Boeckman reminded me of the big white stiff he has always been when he has no WR’s to throw to. And Jesus……he’s 25 or something like that. I am not a big fan of that. At what point should you limit the age of the people you are competing agains. He is competing against 18 year olds in some cases.
I watched the game at a buddys house who is an OSU fan. Man…….it was fugly. I can’t believe OSU recruits like they supposedly do and Robiskie is all they have at WR. Frankly, they don’t have anybody behind Wells at this point either.
Anyone who reads my posts knows that I tend to be pro recruiting……..but OSU seems to be the school that frankly, recruits better on paper then they do on the field.

Recruits
I think this proves a point with the OSU loss and recruiting. It’s not who you recruit, but what you do to develop those recruits. Look at us, how many 2, 3 star guys have we turned into either pros, or PSU record holders. Tony Hunt being a great example. It’s part of the reason I get so pissed off when people start complaining about not getting the 5-star recruits. Don’t get me wrong, it is more than possible to have so much sheer talent in high school that you are destined to be either a college or NFL star, but I think PSU has a great record of seeing the potential in our recruits and doing everything we can to develop them to their full potential.
I mean........
don’t get me wrong…….we have been horrifice agains UM and OSU over the last 10 years, so I don’t think the recruting thing is over done in that respect. They both “out recruit us” and we have been their bitch for 10 years. But I think relative to the other schools they are competing against in prime time they seem to be over rated in that department.

Kiffen
I think Lane Kiffen might be out of a job, with GS’s stock on the downturn I wonder how PSU fans would react to Kiffen.
Young guy, pro/college exp, etc.
He is not the guy I hired.
what the hell does that mean. Al Davis is such a wanker.
He sure seemed like he knew what he was doing as an O-coordinator with USC. Of course he stepped into a fully stocked kitchen left behind by Norm Chow (and Norm Chow’s UCLA just got shut out 59-0).
Of course I would need to investigate his geneology for blue&white blood.

Self Talking...
“Despite all the teams achievements, Kiffin’s work with the Trojans over his two-year period as offensive coordinator is sometimes harshly judged for what it did not accomplish – win national championships – as compared to the previous two seasons in 2003 and 2004.[original research?][citation needed] Furthermore offensive play-calling responsibilities for USC were shared during this period with QB coach Steve Sarkisian having on-the-field approval for Kiffin’s suggestions and head coach Pete Carroll maintaining veto power. Lack of clarity and final say over play calling responsibility has left some controversy over how much decision making power Kiffin wielded versus Sarkisian and Carroll during his two-year tenure as offensive coordinator.” From Wikipedia.
USC’s playcalling system sounds eerily similar to PSU’s keystone cops.

My recap
Really, just a photo, but is says it all
Blogging about D.C. Baseball since April '04. Penn State alum. Also partial to the Washington Capitals, New York Yankees and Yale football.
Some weekend thoughts
Michigan: are they really bad enough to lose to ND? Not to jinx us or anything, but that makes me feel so much better about 10/18. (Which I just scored tix to!!)
OSU: a game between 2 teams I normally root against. But after seeing smug TP on the field, I had to root for USC. After the Ohio close one and the USC disaster, I’m feeling a little better about that one also.
Rutgers: What an embarassment. I think Schiano’s stock is dropping fast. He’s supposed to be the D-coordinator, and their D got burned so many times.
Thoughts on Pryor
He’s good, of course, but remember the whole question about his composure, and how he kept getting into it with opposing players and fans? Many burshed it off as “blown out of proportion”, but seeing him jaw with USC players, several times, all while being blown out…I wonder if getting into his head, especially on the road, would be very difficult.
Kevin @ Black Shoe Diaries
I just want to see him on his back trying to talk smack to our line.
I don't know, Mello Yello is pretty awful. What's the worst that could happen?
All Buckeye
players seemed to talk more shit, and get all chesty than the Trojan guys. I really hate the in your face style of trash talk that Tressell allows. I don’t understand it.
