Legal Bias
How is it possible that Shareece Wright gets arrested for Felony Resisting Arrest and the ABC crew just brushes over the incident? That crime is far more damaging then getting into a campus fight. He resisted an officer of the law. Not only did ABC just brush over the incident, but he was allowed to play in the game! Not to mention the fact that they made comments about Penn State's off the field issues when Herbie said we were a team to watch out for.
Does Wright get a pass because he plays for the only professional college team in the country? The fact is that JoePa would never play a kid who was arrested for a felony but California Conman Pete Carroll can get away with it. We get a bad rap for our kids getting into some situations, but USC has had their own fair share of problems including the Reggie Bush/Agent situation.
I find it sad that USC gets a pass and Penn State gets pounded for anything that occurs. Maybe it is because we hold our kids to higher standards then most schools. Or maybe it is because the media wants to beat a dead story. Either way, it is wrong and Wright should have faced some punishment.

Two things I can think of
1. Penn State’s previous reputation. This never used to be an issue here, so it’s relatively big news when our players get busted.
2. The sheer number of incidents. Regardless of what the players were actually accused or convicted of, you can’t deny there are waaaaay too many brushes with the law.
In the end, we’re going to keep seeing and hearing these references to PSU’s off-field issues. It’s out there on the national scene now, and there’s no putting the genie back in the bottle.

BIAS is
BIAS…and it should have been identified more clearly to the general public, not just “blogger jockeys!”
Aside: how do you think USC would have fared if Sanchez was hurt/did not play and Wells was in…
" We need MORE cowbell !"

If Ohio State wants to be considered one of the elite programs they shouldn’t miss a beat if a RB goes down. They should have about 3 other Army All-Americans waiting in the wings like USC.
I think the lose really hurts the Big 10. If Ohio State is our best team (media’s opinion), and they can’t even score a TD on USC, then the conference obviously can’t hang with the big boy in the Pac 10 and the big boys in the SEC.
I honestly think that even if Ohio State runs the table the rest of the year and it was between them and another one loss team to see who goes to the title game, i honestly think voters will remember this game and the past two national championships and not vote them in. I give Ohio State all the credit in thet world to have the balls to go out to Cali and play USC. that shows they have confidence.

im not
completely sold on the validity of ohio states team. i think they could lose three this year and i wouldn’t be phased by it

U$C
U$C is the show pony this year for the media. The media loves U$C, they love them because So. Cal is sexy, and they’re the only competative team on the West Coast. They love them because Pete Carroll is a dynamic and likeable guy. The media loves U$C most of all because it makes them look smart when they pick U$C to win it all. If people like Tony Kornheiser had their way, U$C would win the NC every year for 15 years straight — because dynasties make analysts look better because they can just spend all their time fellating one team, one QB, one coach.
Seasons like last year drive the analysts nuts — every time they fired up the hype machine the team loses and the obvious parity in college football is exposed. But the analysts hate parity; parity means you have research and report on many different teams instead of a few; parity means they can’t just spend half their time hyping one team, because if that team loses then they look like tools.
Football analysts are like weathermen, they want nothing more than to guess and be right. Is U$C the best team this season? Maybe. Will it rain tomorrow? %50 chance.
Carroll plays practical jokes and lets people watch practice, so it’s cool that his players get paid & arrested.

Field hockey??
I think the media thinks the “Penn State way” is a holier than thou attitude and the media loves to beat someone down when they get the chance.
ding ding ding
its like kicking a kid who’s down, they get their jubblies off on it. in their defense, the players did it to themselves.
