Beaver Stadium Music: Blue Band or BoomBox...
I think a combo of the two works nicely - however a little more Blue Band and a little less (i.e., none thanks) Bon Jovi and Journey.
If you were Guido, what would you play.
1.) More blue band - fight song
2.) Something like the Bouncing Souls "Ole' "
or (as goofy as it is) Andrew W.K. "Party"
I was wondering what the 75 word talk was all about and here we are killing your brain cells with filler to made the deadline.

More Blue Band, please!
I’m transplanted to NJ and don’t want to hear Bon Jovi in Central PA.

More Blueband, Less Boombox.
You know where I stand. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for getting the students pumped up, but there’s no need to have the Blueband sit idle while “Sweet Caroline” plays over the speakers.

Actually, cowbells would be ideal
considering our agricultural roots.

cowbells
As a cowbell enthusiast, and as a student who brings his own cowbell to each game, even I must admit I think we have too many cowbells right now. However, i can only speak for the student section. I imagine alumni up in the north endzone don’t get to hear as many. Oh and anyone who brings a cowbell into the game should have to prove that they know the correct blue band/ lion version.

You're right!
i started coming to games in 1992 and i remember hearing the cowbell in the upper deck of the north endzone. I wanna say my first game was the penn state-cincy 81-0 slaughtering. I remember the guy who was playing it and i went to every home game every year till i joined the military in 2000 and left for germany. When i came back on leave in 2006 for the michigan game i was siting in the student section with my girlfriend and i pointed out “the original cowbell man” to my friends who had nnooooo idea. He said he apologized for not being to more games but his kids soccer games had consumed his life. haha (or something like that) anyways, i pointed him right out by the mustache. for some reason i’m picturing a bill cowher like guy with a big mustache. Anyways…. Mike, i back you up when you say the cowbell DID originate in the north endzone. He would even stand up on the raised platform and play with the lion and cheerleaders….

haha
I’m aware the cowbell started in the north endzone, and I think RUTS is right; he was a former mascot. They have it the best. They get the one and only original cowbell-er. cmp126 is probably right too. he probably does run off impostors. The student section is full of students with terrible bells and terrible rhythms.

Cowbell Man
The north end zone actually has the real authentic cowbell man. I believe he runs off potential imposters.

He was in mid-season form on Saturday
I always wondered if he buys a ticket, or just somehow sneaks in and wanders around playing the cowbell so as not to get caught?

I hope to never know...
it is one of those gameday secrets that need to be guarded, kinda like the identities of the masked Joepa and the Football Wrecking Crew.

If I were Guido...
First off, I’d run myself out of town for ruining great traditions and turning the Blue Band into a sideshow act.
Because he won’t do that, second, I would cut down, and I meanreally cut down on the amount of ads, piped-in music, videos played. We have great fans, great entertainment in the form of the bands and cheerleaders, but we’ve got to sit through listening to “Song 2” (or, as the kids call it, Woo Hoo), after every sack. It really makes it hard to sit at games at times. Is it really a “Woo Hoo” worthy event when we’ve sacked Coastal Carolina’s QB for the 5th time and we’re up by 40?
I remember a few years ago, the speakers were playing sounds of drums, just like a marching band would. Is that really necessary, especially since we have a band who could provide some drums?

Drums over the speakers...
They still do that when the play clock is running down.

i'm willing to bet...
the majority of the people that want more blue band sit in the west side of the stadium (the morgue) and yell at you to sit down as well….you should appreciate the outside music, listen to a Tennessee football game where you don’t here music all you here is their damn band playing the worst song on the planet, Rocky Top.

Nope
I’m 4 years removed from the student section. I just want to experience college football in it’s purest form, you know, without a DJ spinning tracks.

It's COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!!!
If you want to hear ‘Zombie Nation’ or 80’s Hair Bands, or current Hip-Hop, go to an NFL or an NBA game.
A huge part of the tradition of College Football is the College Bands playing Fight songs and other arrangements.
It pains me to hear the speakers blaring music that has no business in a College Football game.
I will stand up and scream and cheer on the East, West, North, and South side, but turn off the damn stereo and let me hear the band.

BoomBox
I’m ok with some. Zombie Nation needs to be played, and Livin’ on a Prayer, but thats it. Sweet Caroline has too much of a baseball feel to it, and Woo Hoo is just pathetic. However, if they want to play those songs as well, I don’t have nearly the problem I do with the ads.
-The announcer killed a “We Are Penn State” cheer by talking about Myrtle Beach Saturday. That annoyed me.
-The Weather report is incredibly overdone by that clown who tells you the weather.
-I can see that my hot dog is a Berk’s hot dog by looking at the package.

Yeah, the weather guy is a little too quasi-retarded for me.
Plus, the volume is jacked up waaaay to high for his “Crazy fun-loving weatherdude” routine.
Besides – what the hell good is a weather forecast when you’re already in the stadium? If it’s going to rain and we forgot rain gear, how does your forecast help us, oh funny Exciteable Boy?

This is what happens when you haven’t seen a game since the Clinton administration.
They currently bring some assclown out after halftime to give you the forecast for the rest of the day & your drive home. And acts like a complete spaz in the process AND SHOUTS THE WEATHER IN CASE YOU COULDN’T JUST LOOK UP AND SEE WHETHER IT’S CLOUDY OR SUNNY. WHOOOOOOO!!!!

No, not a live person – just a video on the jumbotron.
They may have had a weather bunny in the past, but not on Saturday. I think it was tied in with one of the local news channels, not accuweather, but someone more sober than I was can help me here…..

I felt like it was both
A commercial to tune into Accuweather on one of the local channels. I don’t really remember b/c all that really stands out was that he was extremely too excited and loud.

More Stadium Gripes
I don’t like where the band is now, and was last year. My season seats are in NFU, and I could not hear them, and the other day, I was in EJU, and couldn’t hear them. Starting to wonder if anyone other than the West Side can hear them.
