Any new Recruiting News?
I haven't heard much on the recruiting front....I mean the Evans, Koroma news has overshadowed everything going on with this team. Anyway with Illini coming to town, wondering if anybody has heard anything about recruits on the verge of signing, etc....

Nope
This is typically a pretty dead period recruiting-wise. The college teams are too busy with their seasons to host a lot of visitors. And the high school kids have games on the weekends so they can’t get out on visits anyway.
Having said that, kids like to make visits to the big games because a) they are a lot of fun and b) they tend to kick off late on Saturdays. So if a kid has a game on Friday night he can travel on Saturday morning and go to the game that evening. Several recruits will be attending the game this weekend and a few are hoping to attend the Michigan game in a few weeks. If we’re going to get any verbals between now and the end of the season it will most likely take place a week or two after those visits. If we don’t get any verbals in October I wouldn’t expect to get any until late December or January.

This is an ACTIVE preiod in recruiting.
The visits by students are huge, and the teams will do a lot when hosting them.
This period is definitely more active for the students than the teams, but its still very active.
When a recruit visits for a game they are generally on the sidelines with the team and spend time with the team and are recruited. The teams are in contact with the students and a lot of students will make commitments now.
Of course, those commitments are not always honored. But you can definitely know what schools a kid is hot or cold on.

True
It’s not technically a “dead period”. Coaches can contact kids once a week I think and they can host them on official visits. But visits are rare because everyone is preparing for their upcoming games. You don’t see many verbal commitments during the season.

I think Visits are Common
Wish I could remember the kid, but he planned on going to 5 schools.
I think a lot of the kids from MD that are committed to PSU right now have visits planned for this fall as well.

I'm not optimistic
With Carter, Royster, and Green doing so well and Curtis Dukes coming in next year I think we may have cooled on him.

He' going to Michigan
this weekend. I’m to cheap to buy a subscription to Rivals but I’d guess he is going to go to several schools this fall.
The current list of PSU verbals is at http://rivals100.rivals.com/commitlist.asp?Year=2009&School=61
Scout also will have information, but I prefer Rivals. They have a better presentation.
Not listed however is kids considering PSU who are not yet committed.
