Joe Update

I have yet to be able to watch a game this season as i am studying abroad in London. Thank goodness for this website otherwise i would be going crazy over here. (on a side note if your a Penn State fan  in London please contact me as i want to know where you watch the games.) I just wanted to hear if Joe was on the sidelines during the game and if he looked good. Hopefully it was just a health scare and he's alright.

Joe

He was for the first half, but his leg was sore and went up to the pressbox for the second half, nothing major. He said he hurt his leg during practice before CCU, but Syracuse’s turf enflamed whatever the injury was he had.

tWWL's big ten blog

is reporting that joe will be one the sideline for the Illinois game.

Last week he just went upstairs to rest his leg for the second half, since we pretty much had the game in the bag by half time.

London

Sweet! I love the thoughts of Penn Staters tuning in from around the globe.

Good luck this semester. And good luck making new pommy friends. Back in the dark ages, I did a semester abroad in Australia and the next semester in Austria, and the friends I made then have kept me traveling all through my long years. I just had a South African couple come through and stay with us in DC, and I hadn’t seen him in ten years. And now I know I’ve got a place to stay if I man up and head to the soccer world cup in 2010! I’ve got a good kiwi mate in London, but he never stayed here long enough for me to get him hooked on american college football (the best sport on the planet!), like he did to me with rugby. Otherwise, I’d hook you two up.

Have a good time this semester!

Thanks

So far London is great, is just the football i am missing. Luckily there is a Sports Bar that at least shows NFL games. Without that and this website i might be seriously going crazy for my football fix.

Not too bad

Unfortunately last time i went out to the club, i pre-gamed a little too hard and was drunk before i got there. After two drinks i decided to ride the tube drunk. While it was fun it kind of ruined any chances i had that night. But the good thing about London is there is a party every night.

Fair enough

But ‘here’ is BSD, which is not ‘over there’ (although with its medium and soaring popularity, it could be argued that it’s ’everywhere’). I’m a when-in-rome guy myself, but along with that openmindset comes an even heartier righteousness when I’m on my own turf. Posting in this football blog, I could not bring myself to refer to the 2010 world cup as the futbol world cup. I used soccer, to distinguish between the rugby world cup, in New Zealand in 2011, another wicked-sounding internationally-flavored party.

Rugby World Cup in New Zealand

Gee, I wonder if there will be any drunken fights at that party?

Here's half the requirement

These dudes are players so, presumably, are not drunk: http://rugby-worlds.blogspot.com/2007/09/rugby-fights-sport-for-men.html

Yeah, I was bummed. I went to a bachelor party (they call it a ‘Stag Do’) on the North Island in February, and we were originally meant to have it in Wellington during the international sevens tournament there. But we couldn’t get enough accommodations, so had to have it in Taupo instead, so I never got to see any of the tomfoolery from the fans. Just from the lads on the stag do…..

I have no idea what any of that means

Clarity

the link is of rugby players fighting (part of your wondering if there will be ‘drunken fights’). Wellington & Taupo are towns on the north island of New Zealand. The sevens tourney is a rugby tournament with only 7 players, instead of 15 like in the rugby world cup. I was close to witnessing whether there were drunken fights at a New Zealand rugby tournament but did not get to. But I did see lots of drunkenness and no fighting amongst the new zealand dudes on the bachelor party.
