Illinois vs PSU Coverage Map
Has anybody seen the coverage map for the game? I know it usually comes out on Wednesdays, but I can't find it posted anywhere.
I am nervous that Colorado folks are going to end up with the Va Tech / Nebraska game, which will make me puke. ABC better not screw me this week.
On that topic, what is the deal with ESPN 2 this year? I hate the new system of putting auto racing on the deuce and moving games to the ESPN spillover channels.
Thanks for the fanpost! Please do not post any content from a premium site that requires a subscription. Also, if you just want to share a link consider using fanshots instead. Thanks.

Yup, you're probably screwed
Unless you live in the extreme south/southwestern part of Colorado.

Noooooooooooooo!
Thanks for the links…kind of :) Now I just have to switch some plans around to make sure I catch it. The PSU/Syracuse game was available for purchase…maybe this one will be, too? Then I wouldn’t have to bump my plans.

I was afraid of that
Looks like Texas is subject to the torture of watching VA Tech and Nebraska. Time to give Dish Network a call or start looking for a bar.

If you're out of market
You should get ESPN Game Plan, it’s like $100 for the season, and you’ll get every game.

DirecTV
If you have DirecTV, you might be able to buy the game for 21 bucks…that is what I did for the PSU/Syracuse game. It is kind of like buying gameplan just for one week. You can make the purchase right on-screen…almost too easy.
by Rocky Mountain Nittany Lion on Sep 24, 2008 4:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Sure
I do get DirecTV, when you pay the $21 do you get the whole day of games, or just the Penn State game?

The whole day.
At least that was the deal from GamePlan through Comcast.

DirecTV -- all day, maybe
I know that I got all of the games in that timeslot, but I didn’t check at other times.

With gameplan you always get the whole day of games...
so make sure you order the game early in the day so you can see everything. Also a great time to bring another tv in the room if that’s possible and make a bunch of ill-advised wagers.
I wouldn't trust old rooster me neither.

What's going to be on ESPN at 8?
If there are only two options for games that night…wouldn’t PSU-Illinois be on one and Va Tech-Nebraska on the other?
by HookMania on Sep 24, 2008 4:20 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
SEC game
There’s a game on ESPN at 7:45. LSU and either Ole Miss or MSU. I think.

Some game involving
UGA and Alabama….who wants to watch that???
by PSUfanSTUCKinSECland on Sep 24, 2008 4:45 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
OHHH that game...
well I guess that’s reason enough to bump Penn State-Illinois or Va Tech-Nebraska to gameplan. Even though I live in Michigan, this season has given me more than enough reasons to stay, or at least only move within Big 10 country.

Coverage Map
I think this should become a new weekly feature. Anyone else?
I'm worried about the beer supply. After this case, and the other case, there's only one case left- Barney Gumble

Keep posting it in the Fanposts.
And I’ll include a link to it in the Thursday previews.

Great Idea
If someone could take ownership of that and create a fanpost that would be great. That will free up RUTS, Kevin and myself to focus on other things.

I've noticed the last couple
coverage maps, that South Florida gets PSU instead of the regional game. For example, Miami is an ACC program but misses out on VaTech. It happened a few weeks ago with Syracuse or OSU too.
We must have a large population down there?!?
by Screen Name 20 on Sep 24, 2008 4:26 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
South Florida is the Sixth Borough
I’ve lived down in Palm Beach County for the past couple of years. It seems like almost everyone who’s down here is either from New York, New Jersey or Boston. It’s basically a Northeast city in Florida.

FSU is ACC too
and they can both bite me
last year almost every PSU game was on TV, it was awesome
I see a lot more OSU fans down here, probably bandwagon jumpers

Just about everyone who grows up in Ohio
moves to Florida when they get old, so they could actually be natives.

I noticed the same thing
The only logic I can find is that so many retired people move down there from the Northeast. Also worth noting is that PA happens to have the 2nd largest elderly population in the country — with Florida being #1. I think that stat is still accurate…

I had an old (he was really old then) latin professor
tell me one time about south florida, that ‘all the old people live in Naples, and their parents live in Sarasota.’

Gulf Coast
Naples and Sarasota are ‘Gulf Coast’, not ‘South Florida’. I feel that by living in Florida I have to make that clear. ‘South Florida’ is from West Palm Beach to Miami. Don’t get me started on USF either.
And yes, there’s nothing but old people in either of them.

hey, Mess, what do you think about USF????

So
I’m in Virginia with basic Comcast Digital Cable. So naturally, I’m getting stuck with VT vs Nebraska on ABC. Anybody know if our game will be on ESPN or ESPN 2 alternatively? I would prefer to avoid going to a bar.

In my defense
In these challenging economic times, I prefer to watch my game from the comfort of my own couch, on my own HDTV, drinking 12 of my own beers for the price of 3 bar beers.
And I make a mean buffalo chicken dip.

Ah, yes. I can relate
Everytime I go out for drinks, I always think to myself, “I could get a six-pack for the price of this one beer.”
But maybe the best thing about watching the game from home is that you can drink as much as you want, and then just pass out when the game is over.

Well, you can do that at a bar too...
although the broom handle the bartenders poke you with to wake you up doesn’t feel all that good.

Broom handle
Yeah, not sure which is better in this sitch. The broom handle wielded by an anonymous bartender, who really could go either way gentle or brutal. Or the verbal wrath from girlfriend/wife.

Broom handling...it depends
If said gf / wife verbally unleashes on you when your drunk? Just pass out again. If it’s in the morning and you’re sporting a nice little hangover, that’s probably worse.
This whole conversation reminds of a the time I passed out at a gentleman’s club for a bachelor party…ahh, good times.

I really love the term 'gentlemen's club'
It’s just the classic, vintage spin on things: you start with the unsavory, debaucherous, or decadent, and repackage it into classy, charming and gentlemanly.
Until of course you pass out there, and then promptly return to spot A.

We’ve all been there, to varying degrees. And besides, we could get all Clintonite on this subject and ask just what does one mean by ‘shame?’ This act you confessed could easily be honored as Pride, by more than a few in here.

I like to roll like Mo’ Evans, and you can’t do that in a bar. Well, in the parking lot…

thank god
I almost broke my remote control after the Syracuse debacle. it wasn’t for lack of trying. The problem wasn’t that the game wasn’t on, it was that the digital cable in Tampa SAID it would be on, only to see VT and GT instead. And THEN the pay-per-view channel SAID it was on and instead it was Utah. The massive stroke I’ve been waiting for almost happened that day my friends.
So when I see that the only game standing in my way of finally seeing PSU in Florida this year was VT/Nebraska, I was terrified that I’d need to go up to USF, buy some C4, and destroy the local ABC carrier. Sitting at home with some beers and enjoying some Big Ten football sounds like much more fun.
Thanks for the map link!

Or is it Coloradoites? Eh, either way, they’re all from Illinois.

The proper term is Coloradans. Also accepted is Coloradoans, although not as common.
I have never met anyone in Colorado from Illinois.
