Update from the Philly.com blog, Lion Eyes:
Capt. (it was Lt. a day ago, but he just got promoted) Bill Moerschbacher, of Penn State police, said that no charges have been made in the Nittany Apartments marijuana incident and that it could be TWO WEEKS (my emphasis) before anything comes to fruition. He said the police were still in the investigative phase and that they still needed to complete testing (of the controlled substance that was sent away to a lab -- not of the suspects) and interviews with suspects and witnesses. He said he anticipated charges being brought about, but he couldn't be completely sure when that would occur. Also, so far no word from Capt. Paterno and if he's decided to punish the four players, if any. Stay tuned.

Ok let's recap
Yesterday we were told this was “routine incident” with a “small amount” of marijuana and citations would likely be “mailed out” in a few days.
Now 24 hours later we’re looking at a full blown two week investigation complete with crime lab testing?
I’m no dummy. I’ve seen COPS. Don’t they have little test kits in the trunk of the cruiser they can test this stuff on the spot? Your throw it in the test tube with a couple drops of an reagent. If it turns blue it’s pot.
Seems to me the police and DA want to draw this out until they find something.

The players better get their stories straight ASAP.
Looks like this will be hanging over the program for a while.

I was gonna say the same thing
But apparently they did the same thing in the Michael Vick case. They sent the “substance” away to do analysis, even though they classified it as MJ on the scene.

It could be Khat
not MJ.
They look very similar and Khat is gaining favor w/ college kids.
That could be a reason for sending some of the substance to the lab. I locked up some guys in DC Khat, I thougt is was MJ but it didn’t test positive in the field. One of my buds who was part of the “black hawk down” incident was able to identify the substance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khat

No
But…that doesn’t mean there was not a small amount of weed there that they smelled and some other stuff they could not field test.
Just a thought

Waiting two weeks to file charges
is probably worst case right now for the program.

Two weeks
I fear this is going to drag on all season. They will file charges in three weeks. Then we’ll have a preliminary hearing a month after that. Then the judge will think it over and charges will be dropped in January.

I didn't know......
a) Molly Ringwald was in Fact of Life
b) Kim Fields ever had less than EEE Brown Cows.
Never heard of Khat. Thanks for the link. At least our potheads are on the leading edge of the dope scene.

Promotion
I guess it takes a huge bust like this to get a Lt. that big promotion to Capt.

Evans, Koroma, and Quarless
are benched for the Oregon State game while more details continue to surface. How does this affect our play on Saturday?
