So who will we see today...

Clark or Clark and Devlin?

by deihlba on Sep 6, 2008 8:25 AM EDT   0 recs

Quarless

Apparently Quarless didn’t have a part with the festivities held at the Nittany Apartments and will dress for the game. That’s the rumor at least.

by blt on Sep 6, 2008 8:44 AM EDT   0 recs

beautiful picture

good luck to you guys against the Beavers today.

Senior Leadership

Time for the seniors to step up in lieu of the dope nonsense this week. Derrick Williams should go berzerk today running and catching. Expect to see true Spread today and Clark to rush for 50-75 yards.

by PSUMJF on Sep 6, 2008 9:39 AM EDT   0 recs

Mark Rubin

Getting some good coverage on College Gameday. Apparently he was an excellent swimmer in high school, beat Phelps a few times (my guess is in relays, but who knows) and won several state championships.

by gumbercules on Sep 6, 2008 10:48 AM EDT   0 recs

Also,

Excellent rant by Herbstreit about the off-field problems.

by gumbercules on Sep 6, 2008 10:51 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

agreed

Good take on the problems; less Paterno-bashing and more player accountability.

by duck58 on Sep 6, 2008 10:56 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

He pretty much echoed what many have said here.

by Spats on Sep 6, 2008 10:58 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

You're not going to embarrass

any football players with comments in an online forum. He just called them out in front of their peers, and that’s going to hurt later tonight regardless of the result of today’s game.

by gumbercules on Sep 6, 2008 11:02 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I totally agree....

All I’m saying is that it was just nice to here something other than the same tired complaints about how Paterno has lost control….yadda yadda yadda

by Spats on Sep 6, 2008 11:51 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Can anyone summarize what Herbstreit said?

I missed it.

"A setback is just a set up for a comeback." -Drew Brees

by kajpsu on Sep 6, 2008 11:38 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

short synopsis

He essentially called out the three guys suspended for their ignorant behavior, putting a legendary coach in such a tight situation without realizing that the entire media has their eyes focused on the PSU blotter right now, and said somebody needs to stand up in the locker room and take charge.

by gumbercules on Sep 6, 2008 12:27 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Basically, he dumped it on the players.

After referencing the OTL piece (which followed Fowler saying that most of the legal infractions have been alcohol offenses), Herbie dumped the recent incident on the players. Where’s the leadership, where’ the accountability, etc. Wondered how these players could constantly keep disgracing their legendary coach.

It was a nice concession from the GameDay crew in light of the OTL business, but it missed the obvious point that the legendary coach allowed the situation to get this far.

by Run Up The Score on Sep 6, 2008 12:31 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Being a late game today

I bet the players were watching that live. I hope it pisses them off.

by BSD on Sep 6, 2008 11:52 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

When Rubin switched from offense to defense

he switeched jersey numbers.

I have his old jersey.

Here's to...

Illinois losing!! That would be great if they lost. Awful for the Big Ten, but still, shows us what we will need to do to beat them.

I was out in the trenches, which enables me to paint such a powerful picture, like Apocalypse Now.-Cormega

I don't want to see anyone lose that we play

I don’t want to see anyone lose that we play that way when we beat them we can move up

by jetskijoe on Sep 6, 2008 12:30 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

So are all the players still out

I have heard rumors floating around that some of the drug tests came back. Was watching the michigan game and they were talking about it.

BSD

Needs a few student double secret insider info about PSU football players and their everday lives. It could kinda be like Nittany Notes. A student signs up for a particular player(s) that they are in class with and give weekly updates on rumors and stuff.

I know sounds kinda sick. But I’d read it and enjoy it. Ya just would have to TIFWIW.

As a betting man how can you not bet the over is this game… I’m thinking 41-24 PSU.

Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.

I thought it was going to hit far to the East. Just light rain, light wind at the most. I’m in Pittsburgh, dry as a bone. What’s goin on in State College?

looks like UPSET DAY

We better watch out it looks like an Upset Day…or at least a hard day to win. None of the good teams look good today.

by jetskijoe on Sep 6, 2008 1:28 PM EDT   0 recs

Ugly, ugly day for the conference so far.

Hope it’s not a foreshadowing for this afternoon.

Rain seems to be staying away for now.

by Run Up The Score on Sep 6, 2008 1:46 PM EDT   0 recs

Ohio is showing something

Ohio is showing how to beat Ohio State. Man if Ohio State loses now it will really make the conference look bad.

by jetskijoe on Sep 6, 2008 1:48 PM EDT   0 recs

Running between the tackles

That’s how you have to go after them. And I’m sorry, but Laurinaitis fucking sucks. He was blown out of the play on Ohio’s TD run by a really weak block. Really weak.

Nice punt by Ohio there.

by Run Up The Score on Sep 6, 2008 1:52 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I agree

wow Laurinaitis should go back to the WWE. He is getting run over.

Tackles

Laurinaitis makes tackles in the tradition way by waiting for the ball carrier run into him

I think

OSU might get crushed next week at USC…

I will say that “lower level” team like Ohio U, BG, and other MAC school are lightyears better today than ten years ago. Guys that would be backups at PSU in the 90’s now start there, these players don’t stink.

by SweepTheLeg on Sep 6, 2008 2:38 PM EDT   0 recs

It was sickening

to hear that clown on ESPN praising Laura. It’s easy to avoid blocks when the guy doesn’t try to block you!

Will the real Derrick Williams please stand up?

by ReadingRambler on Sep 6, 2008 2:39 PM EDT   0 recs

Oh look...

…another tipped ball to Laura, who intercepts it. Let someone else do the heavy lifting, and take all the credit.

by SweepTheLeg on Sep 6, 2008 2:42 PM EDT   0 recs

by SweepTheLeg on Sep 6, 2008 2:46 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

So...

our defense smokes a ton of weed? I thought the student claims of a hundred pounds of weed were ridiculous, but I think “a hundred pounds” was just shorthand for “a lot.”

I was defending these guys for a while, but whoever had anything to do with this…At least one of the guys who lived there is a complete idiot.

I agree with what Herbstreit said about the need for player accountability. Player leaders need to step up and explain that there’s a mission…the fact that they evidently have not already makes me dubious about this team’s prospects.

by spakajewia on Sep 6, 2008 2:51 PM EDT   0 recs

when my coach caught us

when the coach caught us he worked us like crazy. I don’t think I have ever done so many push-ups and sprints after getting caught drinking one night. I knew never to do it again. I really feel like the leaders should step up and make the kids do stuff like that. Work them so hard and beat it out of them. When they get tired who cares work them harder.
