My BCS trip

I had booked a trip to Miami after PSU beat OSU. My wife and I went without tickets. We arrived Wednesday afternoon and found the festivities. We ran into a large group of Oklahoma fans. I inquired about tickets to the game. When I told them we were from Penn State we were greeted with compliments of respect for Penn State and Coach Paterno. The guy we spoke to located tickets from their touchdown club within minutes. The guy with the tickets sold them to us for face value knowing he could have gotten at least $400 a piece for them. Again they were quite complimentary of our program. On the day of the game we arrived at Dolphins stadium around 530 pm. I wore my Happy Valley shirt to the game. I was insulted numerous times by the Florida fans. I watched Gator fans heavily insult the Oklahoma fans everywhere we went. I did not witness this from the Oklahoma fans. We sat in the Oklahoma upper end zone. Again we were greeted warmly by the Sooners but regularly attacked by Gators. We had a great time being there. The excitement level was near what I had hoped it would be. The game was exciting. The crowd was loud. I want to share the fact that Oklahoma fans treated us just as I would have expected Penn State to treat another teams fans. On the other hand, Florida fans were nasty, obnoxious, and actually in a way ungreatful to be in the National Championship Game. It is a shame that Oklahoma could not execute well enough to win becasue they were certainly the most deserving. It's a long way away, but I hope we can be in the game next year. Go State!!!

One tragedy of Florida winning

Is that people won’t be able to write “(Derisively) Ok … lahoma. (More derisively) Ok … lahoma.” posts.

No, but they can continue to write about how Tim Tebow's the savior of everything we know. :-/

And the sad part is they may have to do it all over again next season (covers ears).

Maybe we can create our own “hero” here at PSU. Oh wait….don’t we have that guy sporting the number five on the offensive unit? Hmmm…his name seems to escape me right now……Oh yes, Zug! That’s the one. :-P

Worse

I never had an Ohio State fan threaten to hit me (a FL fan did). Now, I am a girl. I don’t provide fights. I was just sitting in a bar in Atlanta, the band played Rocky Top and the FL fan went ballistic! I made the mistake of laughing at him. He told me apparantly I did not understand what it meant to be a Gator, they must hate all other SEC teams, what team did I follow. When I said PSU he said some nasty things about JoePA and when I told him to shut the Eff up, he raised his hand. Luckily one of his friends told him to relax. I lived in SEC country, I never once had any FL fan say one postive thing about Penn State. GA and TN fans were always cool

Like you’re this awesome benefactress and you provide other events instead. Like you promote football games or catered tailgates or a midnight bowling league. But not fights. You don’t provide those.

I was at the '98 Citrus Bowl vs. Florida

The Florida fans were the most obnoxious I’ve ever encountered. That was the year we lost Curtis Ennis to a suit and Joe Jurevicious b/c he’s dumb. It was a painful game and the Gator fans were low class.

As info, the TX fans at the ’97 Fiesta Bowl were also obnoxious. Even after we spanked ’em. Hook this, Texas.

I remember that game

Spurrier tried to put his visor on JoePa at the end of the game, twice, even after JoePa handed it back to him. A$$clown

I also remember hearing that Curtis and Joe had accounted for some crazy high percentage of the offense all year, we never had a chance.

Probably fair to remember

That Steve and Joe are good friends, and the Steve was highly respectful of Joe during the entire run up to that game. Also, they could have killed us too. We had no hope of scoring, but they were content to just beat us to death with Fred Taylor (who had like 30 carries a 250 yards) rather than lighting us up.
