Around SBN: Steve McNair Dead - Former NFL QB Shot and Killed

Sunday NFL Playoff Open Thread

[Hell, let's front page this thing.  Anything to get the basketball blowout further down the page, right?  The Eagles have done their part; now the Steelers can set up a Super Defense Death Match with Baltimore next Sunday...if they can keep the mighty midget Darren Sproles under wraps. - RUTS]

Just in case you need somewhere to vent.

As someone born in Philly and who lived in Pittsburgh for four years, let's hope my Keystone Super Bowl hopes are still alive at 8:00 p.m. tonight.

anyone else

find it hard to root for the Stillers simply because of Pitt? I do.

Not really.

There are so many PSU / Steeler fans that I’ve always made a distinction in my head.

Still...

…if the teams actually do meet in the Super Bowl, I hope the Eagles win by 353 points. In the first half.

Pffft

Time to get that 6th ring, baby. Ain’t no way some fools from Philly gonna stop us now.

We’ll probably lose to the Chargers anyway.

GO STEELERS!!!

i remember while i was still at PSU, both Philly and the Steelers were in the Playoffs, and people kept talking about moving the SuperBowl to Beaver Stadium.

picture that riot in your head…LOL

while we all know that would never happen, that would be fun

by amandakt on Jan 11, 2009 1:39 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

That would rock

I just wanna see a Superbowl in the SNOW. Make the celebrities freeze like the rest of us.

If you like

2 yard runs, bad passes, and tons of penalties, then you’ll love this game. Reminds me of the BCS title game – it sucks.

RUTS

Are you sure this was a good idea? It’s gonna be sad if this thread generates more comments than the PSU basketball thread.

P.S.

Take a drink whenever Joe Buck reminds us that this is the third time Philly and New York have played this year.

You'd be blind drunk by now

Hey, did you know that this is the third time the Giants and Eagles have played this season.

This is the third meeting between division rivals. Their both 1-1 against each other.

These teams have already played twice, making this their third game this season… Both of them losing at home.

Well, this looks to be an exciting game between two teams who are facing each other for the third time this season.

….

Joe Buck is the most vapid mind-numbing announcer I’ve ever heard. It’s like he doses up on lithium before the game. I wish I could find the “buck to the future” bit out there, but it appears to have vaporized

I've had him on mute for the most part.

I’m taking a very casual approach to the Eagles game, doing “scared to look” things like cleaning. It’s funny, if the Eagles were the #1 seed and on the verge of crapping away 16 games of hard work, I’d be obsessing over every play. Since the Eagles only gave a crap 60% of the time this year, it’s much less stressful.

Also, YouTube helps.

I’ve been listening to random Howard Stern clips on YouTube for the last three hours, too. Much better than Joe Buck.

Athletes Thanking God

Could do well to take notes from Donovan. The difference between ’I’d like to thank my lord and savior jesus christ’ and what Donovan just spake is vast, far more INclusive, and less …. annoying.

his words: ‘you know what? God is good.’

Ugh

I am so freaking nervous about this game. The whole starting a concussed quarterback thing doesn’t comfort me.

Wow

Minnesota is 7-for-7 from three point range.

Cornley is looking good on these midrange jump shots. Now if he could just hit a foul shot.

I think that Mike may be woozy from the basketball blowout and was posting in the wrong thread.

Is there anything Big Ben can't do?

He is quarterback, he can run the ball, he can punt, he can block!

I LOVE THIS GAME!

Run Up The Score........

you are officially my favorite. Anyone who quotes Thronton Mellon is my kind of guy. One of the MOST under-rated movies of all time.

This score holds, and there maybe bloodshed on Heinz Field next weekend. Its going to be absolutely nasty with the Super Bowl on the line.

Tomlin will won more championships because he doesn’t coach scared like 500 Marty, I mean Bill Cowher.

I love McNabb.

Hmm

We’re getting closer to a Keystone Showdown.

Steelers > Ravens: We ain’t losing.

Eagles > Cardinals: The Cardinals can’t make it to the Super Bowl. They just can’t. It’s a sign of The End.

"They haven't played us yet."

Ike Taylor........

I love it when a bum like Taylor gets burned, sacks off to the opponents sideline, and then gets burned again.

I have a crush on James Harrison

You can mug him and not get called for it, but he’s still going to sack your quarterback.
