NFC Championship Game Open Thread

Arizona-cardinals-logo_medium

                      Philadelphia-eagles-logo_medium

Seriously, an eagle against a cardinal? That's like no contest. Eagles have talons and a sharp beak for killing and ripping flesh. Cardinals can't even defend the bird feeder from squirrels. Psssh!

Here's a thread to discuss the Eagles game. I'll throw up another thread for the Steelers game just before kickoff.

Eagles keys to victory

Offense:

1) McNabb off to a quick start—no deflections or short-hop throws
2) Westbrook early—last two playoff games, 21 carries on 1st and 10, 31 yds. Need more production on 1st down
3) Execute goal-to-go situations…no FGs in ths potential shoot-out

Defense:
1) Pass rush, pass rush, pass rush—Give Warner time, he’ll be successful against any defense.
2) Respect the run: james and Hightower have given the Cards’ running game new life. Pay too much attention to the pass and before you know it the RBs are getting 5, 6 yds per pop.
3) Hit the WRs…Fitzgerald and Boldin are going to get their catches. Hit them and restrict the YAC.

Prediction: Eagles get a key defensive turnover late in the game to preserve a 24-20 win.

Let's go Cardinals...Lets go Cardinals

Levi Brown vs. the team that cut Tony Hunt.

Yeah but

Arizona has Larry Fitzgerald. And he went to Pitt.

Question

Who would win in a fight between Andy Reid and Brandon Ware?

"They haven't played us yet."

by ReadingRambler on Jan 18, 2009 3:32 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

A tie

They would both be found laying in bloody pools. Each with an arm and a leg mysteriously missing.

"Andy Reid had a look of concern"

Yeah, he couldn’t find his chicken leg. Hahaha?

Wow

Eagles got lucky on that play.

Be happy that he’s the only star NFL player Pitt has produced in the last 20 years.

Yes, you should

He hated Pitt so much he left as soon as he possibly could. Hey, we all make mistakes.

Fun game to watch

There’s a penalty on every other play.

I think so too

Curt Warner is wearing his superman PJs.

They are making this..

look easy. Take away that one penalty and its 21-3. State College avoids another riot due to the all PA Superbowl.

Why me?

First PSU gets blown out then the Eagles. If it weren’t for the Phillies being WFC, it would not be my postseason year.

This game is over

Nice run by the Iggles, but the same team that dropped inexcusable games to Cincy (yes, I know it was a tie) and Washington later showed up today. Andy Reid, again, has some serious questions to answer about the team’s inability to run the ball, stop the run or make a big play.

They’re the Eagles. They’ll snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Here we go

The pressure is on McNabb now. Is there any doubt he’ll fail?

I betcha bucks he pukes in the huddle again.

I’m just waiting for an interception from McNabb on this final drive

by markpsu on Jan 18, 2009 6:08 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Totally

But don’t feel bad for him. He’ll go back to the sideline, do his funny robot dance to cheer up his teammates, and everything will be ok.

Speaking of the chosen one...

The Cards signed him as an undrafted free agent…man, what could have been…if only he’d gotten a break, #14 could be leading the Cards to the SUPER BOWL!!

Shucks

Would’ve liked to see an all-Pennsylvania Super Bowl.

But in the end, it’s really quite satisfying to see McNabb and the Eagles choke out again in the NFC Championship.

This game should have been in Phila

Rule chane: The higher seed gets home field. The Cardinals won 6 of their 9 games vs 3 teams that were awful. How the fuck are they hosting a conference championship game?

by NittanyNutz2 on Jan 18, 2009 9:12 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Eagles Hate

Reading this brought back too many memories at bars in State College.

As Penn State fans during away games, nothing but love.

Come Sunday, the intrastate war began.

I only wish Baltimore won. I will not root for the Cardinals, and there’s no way I’m being one of “yinz” rooting for the Steelers.

I suppose I’ve gained another weekend of skiing in the Poconos.
