Who is PSU's first game against on September 5th....
On the www.psu.edu websit it has that game as a TBA. Just curious who the first game is against this year.
Also predictions for the 2009 season:
I think that the Nittany Lions will make it 2 straight Big Ten titles. Iowa loses Greene and they play at Happy Valley so cross them off consideration. Michigan will be a bit better but I think they still have a way to go. Ohio State come to Happy Valley so I think that gives State The edge. If Maybin, Odrick, and Evans come back then the defense will be better. The defense plays a similar cover 2 (and 3) that Tampa Bay plays in the NFL. When they have alot of pressure the defense looks great and the Defensive coordinator looks like a genius. When that pressure isn't there then you have what happened in the 2nd quarter of the Rose Bowl. I do think mixing up the defense more will help but having defensive liabilities like Scrotum, Rubin, Hull, Sales, etc... doesn't help this defense.
I'm very excited to have Lee back next year though. Now lets work on getting Brown, Jenkins, and 1 or 2 sleepers in the next month. Go to Facebook, Myspace, or whatever to plant that little bug in their ears how great PSU is.
WE ARE....

Akron, as far as I know
My initial guess is a 7-0 start (toughest games in that stretch are home vs. Iowa and at Illinois), but a 9-3 finish (losses at Michigan (they’ll be better — and that spread will kill the zone) at Michigan State and vs. either OSU or Wisc at home). 9-3/5-3 and a Cap One or Outback bid.

Wisconsin is headed in a downward spiral…and there aren’t on PSU’s 2009 schedule, so I’m guessing the Badgers won’t come into Happy Valley and get a win.
Michigan has a tremendously long way to go. I’ll be suprised if they’re relevant in 2009, and I think most realistic Michigan fans would too.
Iowa has Penn State’s number, Ohio State will be tough as always, and Michigan State appears to be on the cusp of good things.
Its a shame the non-conference schedule is such a joke…it’ll pretty much render anything next year’s team does irrelevant on national level.
A completion of a home-and-home with the Beavers is a no brainer and should be done. I can’t imagine OSU would turn it down. But then the AD couldn’t reap the rewards from the 110,000 suckers that will show up at the Beave to watch Eastern Illinois or Akron.

Northwestern
I don’t know why I thought they played Wisc. Actually, the other one I’m worried about is at Northwestern.

Yeah, it’s Akron unless there is a late Oregon St type switcharoo.

I was telling SC fans
we should see them next year. We have a very doable schedule and I believe in what we are doing. We lose a great deal but we did manage to win this year when many had us at a #3, at best, in the Big 10. Let’s get back to Pasadena for one of em!

I think we will win the big ten next year and our out of conference schedule is a joke. So, I think we can go 11-1 again next year. Next years schedule is really bad but after that we start playing real teams again. I can’t wait for those Alabama and Nebraska games in Happy Valley.
Here is a link to a schedule that I am going by:

I thought...
….they were pushing the season back a week and adding another BYE so that we finish after T-giving. If they did this, it could cause a schedule adjustment next year.
It would be nice to add an OOC game against in place of E. Illinois or Akron in 2009. I like how we have at least a decent OOC game from 2010 on.
My 2009 prediction is 12-0. I think we are on the cusp of displaying our long awaited dominance in the Big Ten. The only team we have to worry about in the Big Ten right now is Iowa and OSU and they are both at home.
Is the MNC in Pasedena next year? Looks like we could meet USC again, but for the MNC!

I think 12-0 is possible
As a fan I would just like to see better games then the current OOC schedule but I’m very happy with the teams we have scheduled after next year.
That Alabama game already has me stoked!

not sure we should
get stoked by ’Bama anymore…i mean they just got beat by the Mountain West Conference…
we all know that when we play them in 2 yrs, they’ll be having a bad season so that will not boost our OOC at all…
