Senior Bowl Notes (SI.com): Williams Rising
Risers
Derrick Williams/WR/Penn State: Williams' vaunted athleticism was on display as he established himself as the best receiver on the field. Williams displayed speed, effective route-running skills and reliable hands. He beat defenders for the deep reception or physically beat them down to make the underneath reception. There's no doubt scouts were excited by Williams, who showed signs of pulling it all together.

DWill
I still see him as a 2nd day pick. If he had better hands I think he’d go 1st day.
As for Butler I’m hoping the Steelers take Butler on the 2nd day. He may end up being a great possession receiver… poor mans bobby engram type career?
Though Norwood has great hands and is flexible like gumby I don’t see him playing in the NFL. Too small and not enuff speed.

I could see Williams going at the end of day one.
Late 2nd, early 3rd area. Solid citizen, great leader, lots of ability, and can return kicks. The type of value that teams are looking for after the first couple of rounds.

Day 1
now ends after the 2nd round.
However, i think most people still equate a 3rd round pick as a pretty high pick.

now imagine
if teams weren’t given an eternity to figure out their 1-2 round picks.
Don’t these pro draft guys figure out the order of the people they wan’t before the draft starts? I mean seriously, if I was working a draft I would at least have my top 100 guys figured out and placed in order on my “draft board”, which would easily cover the first 3 rounds. Even if I don’t have this set in stone, it shouldn’t take me 15 friggen minutes to decide.

Good for him, his hard work and time at PSU are showing up on the field.
We just needed a couple players, a couple people to buy in to the fact and we were able to do it. --A.Q. Shipley

Totally
McShay didn’t have anything nice to say about him. Sloppy routes. Slow. Poor hands. If you listen to McShay DWill won’t even get drafted.

How odd...
Wasn’t McShay the one who said that Project Mayhem could go fifth overall? I don’t want this to sound like sour grapes, but I hope his draft status review backed up that assessment and he didn’t just jump because of the opinion of one or two ‘experts’.

Not Positive
But wasn’t McShay’s report after Day 1, while this one was after Day 2?

I fail to understand how he remains employed.
Has anyone ever listened to or read something by Todd McShay and been more knowledgeable for it?

I don't know what it is about S.I.
but they seem to fellate PSU like most media outlets slobber over USC.

That can't be possible
I’ve read message boards and blog comments, and I’m pretty sure that every media outlet ever created, from the Centre Daily Times to BBC3, absolutely despises Penn State.

The majority of message board posters and bloggers, from your local paper to ESPN, are complete idiots – except for the posters here on BSD! The CDT message board people, for being State College folk, are usually the most negative out there. Can’t really figure that one out. And I agree with Jugger – I’ve seem to find a lot of PSU love on the SI site (just not in the message boards).
