Not a Bad Week I'd Say
Sounds like Derrick Williams made some money for himself at the Senior Bowl this week. Top senior receiver in the draft? Really?
Derek (sic) Williams/WR/Penn State: Williams was always thought of as a great athlete who showed flashes of excellence at receiver. He pulled all the pieces together this week and was just plain brilliant. His athletic skills translated into football dominance on just about every snap. He solidified himself as the draft's top senior receiver moving towards the combine and now grades out as a late first-round pick.

Awesome. That should definately help our WR recruiting down the stretch. When’s the game?

No one.
No one deserves the success that he potentially has coming to him more than he does. We’re going to miss him.

I said it before...we mis-used this kid for 4 years...should have been reggie bush type impact player
We did a pretty good job getting him the ball this year
and I think it payed off for the team, the first player ever under Joepa to run, catch, and return a kick for a td in a game is Reggie Bush like.
We just needed a couple players, a couple people to buy in to the fact and we were able to do it. --A.Q. Shipley
Agreed
We wasted him for two years on five yard out patterns. But I think they did a good job with him this year. And sometimes we used him best when he didn’t even get the ball as a decoy.

Really...all time great? Maybe all time above average...he is no Bobby Engram or OJ.
I put him in the same boat as Mike Archie or Tony Sacca.
Granted he was a huge lift to the program at the end of the dark years.

Dwill
His greatness comes from more than his stats. You can’t tell me that Dwill, Norwood, and Butler won’t be remembered forever for how they helped turn around the program.

Have to agree
DWill was great, but Engram and O.J. were on another level. When it was 3rd and 10 everyone knew the ball was going to Engram and O.J. And the defense still couldn’t stop it. Those guys were awesome.

Well, unlike either of those guys
Williams will have an NFL career to speak of. I don’t think he’s the greatest receiver ever to play at PSU, but he’s in the top 5 or so. Who’s better? Kenny Jackson, Engram, OJ….. Jurevicious? Cefalo? Garrity? I can’t be missing too many here.

Are you joking
Please tell me you’re joking about Engram and OJ not having an NFL career to speak of.

No - StL mentioned Sacca & Archie
Obviously, Engram & OJ had fantastic NFL careers. Engram is still going…

TS - You are an idiot...Archie had a nice career w/ the Oilers...in the Super Bowl he said...Just give me the ball coach...just give me the ball

You & Archie's mom
might be the only two people who know he played in the Super Bowl.

D-Will and M-ROb
will always mean more to me than any of their stats show, they were the most important player we have had in awhile. DWill’s character is incredible, he had faith in this program and chose to come here to do something big and he has, never once complained. Like many have said his greatness deals largely with things outside of the playing field. Likewise for Mrob, he stuck with it when he could have folded it in, and now he is a captain in the NFL.
MRbo is a captain?
you sure about that? I mean didn’t he just get a starting position this year, and that is at fullback. I would love it if he was…I just haven’t ever seen anything about it before.

Looks like he was named special teams captain.
I like how Nolan recognizes MRobs maturity. He may not make a name on the field, but he’s apparently a contributor in the locker room.

sweet
and LOL @
The team last season had a captain at every position, but coach Mike Nolan said not all the choices were "mature enough to handle the job." He called it a one-year experiment that failed.
really? having an excessive number of captains failed? I never woulda thought. I don’t recall any 49ers games from last year…did they all go out for the coin toss? ;-)
