D.Will in the Senior Bowl
Looks like Derrick Williams was the leader in all purpose yards for either team in the Senior Bowl tonight. Good for him. His offensive stats weren't very impressive (1 rush for 5 yards and 2 catches for 19 yards) but he had 100 return yards as well. Did anyone see the game, I missed it. How did he look out there? I really hope that he keeps building off of the momentum that he seems to have picked up over the past week of practices at the senior bowl. I am sure that i speak for everyone when I say that I really wish him the best and hope that he has a long, successful, and healthy NFL career.

I was watching the game
it was actually pretty boring, since I was basically just interesting in how D-Will would do, but he wasn’t really in any big plays.
As for his performance, I saw his rush, and one of his catches, but I guess I missed the other one. I saw his returns, and he did pretty well, and one he almost broke, but was taken down at midfield.
He did ok on blocking, but after his one first down catch, about 2 plays later he completely missed on a block, and they kept replaying it (talking about how whoever the defender was did a “great move” to get past the blocker…but really D-Will just wiffed on it).
With all that said, he probably could have done better if the QBs did a better job at passing the ball, but the QBs for the “North” team just looked lost most of the time, and the times they actually looked in control, I don’t think D-Will was on the field. Thus is the drawback of these “exhibition” type games.

well the North QB’s were not really the best either.

Yeah...
I was pretty mad with Harrell for not getting D-Will the ball earlier. I believe it might have been Bomar who finally got him the ball.

Watched the game
And agree with the above poster. Beyond boring. The QB’s for the “North” were AWFUL (quick tangent: how is Graham Harrell from Texas Tech a “North” QB but Pat White from WVU is a “South” QB? Huh??).
I remember multiple forced throws to Robiskie, who probably couldn’t get separation from my grandfather.
I dunno…coupling Harrell’s performance last night with Daniel’s in the Shrine Game, and I’m pretty sure we’re dispelling the myth of the OMG LOL BXII QB’S!
Either way, I’m sure all the scouts left by Thursday, with DWill already having solidified his standing as top senior WR.

Was wondering that myself
about Harrell and White. Speaking of Harrell, from the portion of the game I saw his arm strength, if you can call it that, looked horrible. He had no zip on the ball and was consistently underthrowing receivers.

Watched game
1st 2 series DWill was in the normal WR spot opposite Robiskie in 2 WR sets. DWill was wide open on numerous plays, whether on man or in the zone. However the QB’s for the North were so lost, this was the eb-and-flow:
Harrell takes the snap under center. Tries a 5 step drop, where he almost falls on his ass because he’s never taken a snap under center in his live (“what do you mean they don’t run 15 yard shotgun snaps in the NFL?!”). Harrell stares down his primary target, Robiskie, and under-throws him by about 5 yards on an easy 15-yard out.
Then they switched DWill to the slot for the rest of the night, and he looked great. He ran his routes, got open, found holes in the cover-2 zone, and blocked well (mostly). However, like I said, the North QB’s never got past their 1st read before scrambling out of the pocket and running for their lives or throwing a wounded duck 5 yards short. None of the receivers caught a ball above their knees all night, most of them were diving and kneeling to make the catch.
All in all it was one of the most boring under-talented Senior Bowls I can remember. I heard something like 8 projected 1st rounders passed on the game. I miss the 2007 Senior Bowl when Tony Hunt got the MVP and ran over people.

yeah, that is about as accurate an assessment as could be made
and hopefully any scouts worth anything will be looking at how the WRs performed, and not just what their stats showed. D-Will looked pretty open on many plays, but as you pointed out, the QBs rarely got past their first read, and even then would horribly underthrow the pass (there were a few that Robiskie should have been able to turn upfield for many more yards if they just hit them right…but I guess that’s the problem when you get QBs and WRs that aren’t completely in sync).
Heck, even the catch that D-Will had was thrown over his right shoulder, but had it been over the left shoulder he might have broken it for a huge gain, if not a touchdown.

well hopefully
The scouts put a lot more stock in what happens in the week of practice leading up to the game, rather than the game itself. Honestly I had to dig for the results of this game, i couldn’t find anything about it posted on any of the major sights…

I read that the scouts don't even stay for the game
It is all about the practices and drilling that goes on, and Derrick did well there.
