Interesting...
…that they apparently counted Whittingham’s vote for Utah in the coaches’ poll, even though the rules say everyone must automatically vote the “national championship game” winner #1.
Looks like somebody won’t be invited to vote next year

I'm confused by this.
Paterno gave up his vote because they said he “was not allowed” to vote for Auburn, yet during the USC-LSU debacle in 2003, several people voted for the Trojans and I don’t remember hearing anything about people being asked to give up their vote.
Went back and found this:
The coaches who vote in the USA Today/ESPN poll are contractually obligated by the American Football Coaches Assn. to rank the winner of the BCS title game No. 1. LSU finished first, with 60 votes, while three unidentified coaches bucked their association and picked USC No. 1. Carroll does not have a vote.

No big deal
Same record and TCU won their bowl game (you always get a boost from winning your bowl relative to other teams with the same record who lost their). TCU’s 2 losses were to Oklahoma and undefeated Utah.
I pretty much expected them to finish ahead of PSU. And who cares? #7 versus #8, does it matter?
