Arm Punt

I love the term "Arm Punt", but I'm not 100% sure what it means.  I tried to explain it to somebody and failed miserably.  Can somebody enlighten me?  Thanks, love the site, keep up the great work.  Especially the Hate Week posts.

Maybe a post with an explanation for all the awesomely original terminology that is created would be very useful.

I don't know who I destest more; Charlie Weis or Pete Carroll.  If USC wins the World Wide Leader will be giving them non-stop props for the indefinite future and put them on the fast track to sneak into the MNC game.

If the Domers win, then we'll have to listen the country's most famous lisp brag about how great Notre Dame is and how they've returned to prominence.  It's really a no-win situation for all PSU fans.

Thanks for the fanpost! Please do not post any content from a premium site that requires a subscription. Also, if you just want to share a link consider using fanshots instead. Thanks.

My read is

Remember when we were little kids and played touch football in the back yard or in the street. Instead of punting the ball with our feet, we threw it up in the air to simulate a punt. That’s how Pryor throws a lot of his passes. Lofts them, with little “zing”. Allows DB’s to react and get back. Curiously, he threw one of his worst “Arm Punts” for a TD today!

if ND wins today, the rest of the year will be Jimmy C for Heisman from tWWL.

His passes often look like punts

With hangtime and everything. DBs often consider fair catching his passes

ND v. USC is a no-win situation for everyone

The best thing would be for neither team to win, somehow. Asteroids?

The way I see it

The better scenario is ND losing. USC is WAY overrated, and the only ones that don’t know it are tWWL, the voters, and the entire USC team. USC will drop another game before the end of the season, they aren’t that good. The ND-USC game was far too close, and we all know (except maybe Jtot) that the Irish are overrated, and suck, and despite playing a #5 ranked USC, haven’t played anyone of importance or talent.

Maybe we should have sent Dawson's sis to visit the teams

Hope she’s feeling better

lol, I responded to rambler before I saw this! hahaha

actually she came out and tailgated with us today and went to the game, so I think she’s over it. But I sure as hell better not get it now because she wanted to come out and tailgate, or I’ll blame her for it.

I’m sure she’d be happy/completely freaked out to know a bunch of random strangers (some stranger than others…) on the internet are glad she’s feeling better.

OMG...I can see the headlines now

“100,000 Penn State fans contaminated with the sine flu. Perpetrator seems to be…..Dawson’s sister.”

I think I got it from her and I watched the game on TV!

Basically what has been said so far

ie he looks like he’s throwing the ball up as a punt in backyard football, and they have the arc and hangtime. I’m still surprised they don’t get intercepted as much (and I actually haven’t watched tOSU as much this year as I did last year…is he still as bit an arm punter as he was last year?)

by The JuggerNitt on Oct 19, 2009 1:53 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

He's not arm punting as much, no

But they’re still there, and he still makes stupid mistakes. His last touchdown was a moronic jump ball with no real intended receiver. He got lucky because the receiver was able to jump for it.

That was a horrible pass - It was 100% receiver and 0% quarterback

It looked like some backyard play where the biggest kid in the neighborhood is chasing after you and you just want to throw the ball away before he knocks your block off.

Right

So basicly, Ohio State scored a touchdown on a muffed arm punt?

Beat Michigan.

Exactly

As soon as the ball was thrown, I thought “great here’s and interception”, then OSU came down with it. Unbelievable.

He used his athletic eyes to guide the ball to his receiver

Many Thanks

Thanks for the clarification guys. I saw that amazingly “athletic” arm punt in full effect on Saturday.
I get the warm fuzzies every time I see TP sitting on the bench pissed off. He went from “mildly annoying” to “outright degenerate” in my book after the Vick comments earlier this year.
