Coaching Player Arrogance
This is a really thoughtful piece on something we Penn Staters talked quite a bit about before and after the Rose Bowl last year: player arrogance. Matt Zemek takes twin swipes at both USC and Va Tech onfield player boastfulness, while simultaneously chastising the coaches who allow it and praising those same coaches for all of their positive work on the CFB landscape. It's number 3 on the list, and aside for a few unfortunate over-alliterations, contains some real nice thoughts like this one:
"If college sports is to fulfill its promise, the people who teach on the frontlines of practice fields and gymnasiums must do more to mold their players into better citizens. Making a distinction between healthy celebrations and arrogant behavior would be a mighty fine place to start. "

Player and coach arrogance
I used to be a fan of USC. Then Pete Carrol came to town, and the arrogance level went through the roof. Needless to say, I can no longer stand USC. As much as I enjoy ND losing, after seeing the disgusting display by the coach and players, including unnecessary personal foul penalties, I wanted ND to win on that last play just to stop all of USC’s dancing. And the lack of arrogance is a reason I can’t really dislike Tim Tebow. For as great as a player as he is, he never rubs it in the face of the other team. USC could learn something from his behavior.

Tebow
Did you watch the NG game last year when he got a 15-yard penalty for doing that stupid “gator chomp” in an OU player’s face?
Even the perfect person in the world isn’t the perfect person in the world.
DO YOU HAVE PRIDE, DANNY?

Forgot about that
But in general, players like Tebow, Clark, Derrick Williams embody what is good about college football. Act like you’ve been there before. Sometimes the occassional fist pump or gator chomp (esp in a big time situation) just happens. There’s being good and knowing it; then there’s being obnoxious about it.

Is actually considered good sportsmanship.

I may have just missed it...
But have we seen a powerful fist pump yet this year?
I don't think I saw it in the Iowa game
That first quarter bomb brought us the DC17 King Kong chest pump, and the 4th quarter performance brought us the TP bench sulk.

I have seen it a few times
Usually after a good pass or other play, you have to watch for it because usually it is at the end of the play. Although he has started a few plays with the fist pump for good measure.

Not on the EPIC WISCONSIN FIST PUMP scale.
I don’t feel like looking for the picture but you know the one.
