Fear the Refverines
Last week's attempted scoring-drive-killing calls at the end of the second half were prevented by the Paterno Rule. This week we should fear the evil as we walk through the Heart of Darkness. Refverines will be everywhere.
This fear that I have of Refverines is not because the tin foil on my head is not working.
Last week they really raised their ugly heads on two successive calls that would have screwed our halftime-ending scoring drive. I started to get flashbacks of bad trips out west. They're back They're back.
Luckily, the Paterno Rule was enforceable. The bad calls were reverseable.
Later on in the game, the Gophers nearly got screwed on one drive-killer as well
So, we are left with the happy circumstance that at best we just got plain-vanilla bad Big Ten refs instead of full-blooded Refverines.
At worst, the situation will be normal, and the Refverines will be out in full force.
They will get a chance to screw PSU at least once during a critical moment of the upcoming game..
You heard it here first. This is the big one! Here they come! Here they come!
They have been practicing non-reversable bad calls all week, having last week off because they were not needed to beat Western Delaware.
Where did I put my pipe?
For the Glory,
Joe from Boalsburg

I'll never forget that one game against Purdue
Purdue’s WR clearly runs out of bounds but the ref kept the clock running.

Our best hope is that somewhere out there, OSU educated a few refs.
And they are on duty this weekend.

For the life of me
I don’t know where the rest of the conference gets the idea we’re a bunch of conspiracy theory whiners.

I know why
UM pays off fans of every other school to have them call PSU fans a bunch of conspiracy theory whiners. Duh.

Maybe we should get beyond the idea that the B10 refs favor scUM and just recognize the fact that the B10 refs suck in general? Honestly, I think they view the fact that instant replay exists as a reason to not call anything at face value at let the replay overturn.
It was like pulling teeth sitting in the stands for a lot of the game on Sat – felt like every single big play was called against and had to be reviewed. Completely kills the fun.

Yeah, well if the refs on Saturday would have watched the game
instead of trying to get every call wrong on the first try…

not every school can schedule the powerhouse that is Eastern Illinois
and I’m really looking forward to the refs sticking it in your ass Saturday.

Come on, Michigan
Is this really the best you can offer?
1) Delaware State has a smaller enrollment than some community colleges.
2) The more obvious point about a certain FCS team you played two years ago.

i can’t believe you want to argue the merits of playing Eastern Illinois over Delaware State.

And I can’t believe you were actually silly enough to bring up our schedule when Eastern Illinois would kick Delaware State’s ass.

come on now, that’s like saying you’re a bigger bad-ass then your buddy because you kicked a 4 year old’s ass and your buddy only beat up a 1 year old.

That was a poorly stated comment by myself
Allow me to rephrase it.
And I can’t believe you were actually silly enough to bring up our schedule when you schedule FCS teams just like we do.
Also, stop trying to be clever. You’re doing it wrong.

Tin Foil Hat or not
If the game is close in the fourth quarter retty much everybody here is going to be waiting for the controversial close call that will break for Michigan. If you’re not, you’re crazy.
It’s a legitimate concern when you play in Ann Arbor.
Beat Michigan.

See, this is the problem
I can pretty much guarantee you that there will be bad calls in this game that go UM’s way. There will also be bad calls that go PSU’s way, of course. Big Ten officiating is not good. This is not a new thing.
I understand that you want the crutch of CONSPIRACY to lean on when your team does not succeed. It is natural. It is also pathetic.

I don't know if it's a conspiracy or not.
I don’t know if JFK’s death was caused by a conspiracy, but I know he’s dead.
Likewise I don’t know if the bad/questionable fourth quarter calls that go Michigan’s way are caused by a conspiracy or not, but I know they occur.
Pretending they don’t is just as pathetic.
Beat Michigan.

do you watch football and understand the rules? (note that that was an AND, not an OR)
Because the calls that Michigan gets are completely bogus.

Agree
With pathetic.
Here’s to a crutchless thumpin that makes this thread all fade away….

Really
You’re confident that if the game is close in the 4th Quarter that it won’t swing on a sketchy call in Michigan’s favor? Really?

I'm confident
That discussion of referee influences in Penn State-Michigan football games, past or future, reflects poorly on Penn State fans in general and on me personally as one of those fans.
I’m also confident in our team’s ability to, on the field, make that discussion moo, and in our fans’ ability to move along to more meritorious conversations and points as to how that outcome may be achieved.
