Desmond Howard Smokes Crack

Just said Penn State is the most likely one-loss team to lose today. (Big Surprise!) Says PSU is having problems at the linebacker position. wha?

by BSD on Oct 24, 2009 8:18 AM EDT reply actions

well we all know how frustrating it is to have 6 quality LB’s and only room on the feild for 3, i’d call this a problem and a great job of investigative journalism by desmond"the poser"howard

Because it's a Bowl Game!!

by Grainey on Oct 24, 2009 8:27 AM EDT up reply actions

He said this last night

and I was like WTF? He could pick on anything he wanted and make a case for it — oline, running game, untested secondary, Clark and pressure, new FG kicker, awful return special teams — and he picked the one thing that we most certainly don’t have a problem with.

BSD

by KevinHD on Oct 24, 2009 8:30 AM EDT up reply actions

The thing is

He didn’t even elaborate on the problems. If he had said there are a lot of injuries I might agree with him. Or if he had said they were poorly defending and backed it up with some film I might go along. But he just said they’re having “problems” and left it at that.

Quality journalism there, Desmond.

by BSD on Oct 24, 2009 8:33 AM EDT up reply actions

I've always kinda wondered why they've gone with him

as the future Corso replacement. I don’t want to get into the whole diversity thing, but I will say it’s not like there isn’t a huge, diverse pool to choose from. He seems like a nice enough guy but as far as “expert analysis” he maybe worse than average around there, which isn’t very good.

The only thing I can think is that they want the Michigan fan base, similar to why they are able to stick with Lou even though he brings nothing but his clown tricks to the table.

This morning my wife is watching ABC’s ‘good-morning news’ show (it’s like ABC’s version of fox and friends), and the male and female anchors had a little sparring match b/c the dude’s from UM and the lady anchor is from State College and went to PSU.
The guy’s like ‘yeah, Michigan’s going to win’ and the chick did the We Are thing.

So I’m intentionally avoiding Game Day b/c I’m trying not to get too hyped over this game, and it’s even a topic on some fluffy morning news show.

But what does it say that during the halftime show last night (RU/Army), Lou picked Michigan to win, while Mark May went with Penn State?

FWIW, I like TCU. Maybe just cuz I’m partial to teams with really good defenses.

Kidding aside

Ingram would be my #1 at this point, but you still have to fill out a top 5, or at least 3. Who else would go to NY? Tebow? Not so far this year. Colt McCoy? I don’t think so. Maybe Locker or some of the QBs from lesser conferences. There really isn’t a race for the Heisman this year. Nobody except Ingram seems to care.

Tebow will win

on “leadership ability”.

Hey

If someone can win the Nobel Peace Prize on the “promise” of bringing peace, why the hell not give Tebow the Heisman for leadership ability.

what about defense (i know OMG defense can't win)

but that DE from nebraska, or Spivey over at Iowa have been huge factors in their success (well nebraskas relatively success compared to the last couple years).

honestly, if there was a year where a penn state player could have a chance to win…THIS was the year. unfortunately, royster started slow, clark imploded against iowa, and i’m sure a punter has never been in the top 25 in heisman votes.
