How do we count these?

What are the early games? Any PSU rooting interests?
And what’s the action? I’m thinking of taking Indiana with that massive spread.

I've been saying all week that Indiana to cover is the best bet out there.
May no act of ours bring shame.

chaos
GA > FLA, Ok St > TX, Indy > Iowa, Wake > Miami.
I don’t know what to think of the USC game. The problem is if Oregon wins it boosts BSU’s stock, which I don’t like. They play a team my old high school could beat today. And every week except for that Oregon game.

Don't Call Them Indy
Or, well, maybe do. Nothing rankles a Bloomingtonian like having Dear Old IU referred to as “Indy,” a term reserved for Indianapolis or adventurous archaelogists.
And a rankled Hoosier team could give Iowa fits. Seriously.
I woke up with this score on my mind: Indiana 19, Iowa 16. Zeroes on the clock.

Iowa's style of play has people convinced that they could lose to anyone
But Indiana sucks.
The guy from the Crimson Quarry was on BHGP’s podcast this week.
“I don’t know. I guess they’re OK. I guess I can’t complain too much. [sigh]”
Sounds like a team primed to upset a top 10 team!
DO YOU HAVE PRIDE, DANNY?

That's why it's a true upset.
I hate when people call an “upset” that everyone believes will “upset” the other team. If we’re all expecting/calling it, is it an upset?
by PSUinBOSSton on Oct 31, 2009 10:28 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I see your point
And I’m not trying to take away from what Iowa’s done, but they have already shown a propensity to let bad teams stick around.
And “Indiana sucks” is a bit of a simplistic response. Are they good? Well, no. I’ll grant, too, that getting run out by Virginia would instill exactly zero confidence in folks. That’s the only game that’s been a debacle, though. They should have won at Michigan, hung around for a while at OSU, and just plain choked at Northwestern.
I’ll acknowledge your point about how people view Iowa; however, I think you’re simply looking at the name Indiana and assuming they “suck.”
Good? No.
Good enough? That’s sometimes another story.
by tuscaloosalion on Oct 31, 2009 10:33 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
What's their best win?
Illinois? And Michigan may not be good either.
Sorry, but that doesn’t sound like a good team to me.

And Ohio State has been letting bad teams stick around for years now
They just don’t get called out for it.

truthfact.
But all that’s going on here, is that he believes an upset (a real one) will occur. You like the favorite. You dirty front runner you!

Sigh
Rambler,
I’m not disagreeing with any of your points.
Nowhere did I say that Indiana is a “good” team. In fact, I said they weren’t.
In fact, here: Iowa is an exceptionally better team than Indiana.
That’s why it would be a tremendous and lovely upset for the clock to hit zeroes with Indiana ahead.
Get it?

Tony Pike is out (Cincinnati QB)

It'd be a long stretch
I actually think Cincy might be one of the best teams in the nation this year. And Cincy did fine without Tony Pike last weekend – ripped Louisville just fine.

If C. Michigan pulls out the win today
I’m throwing Dan LeFevour at the top of my Heisman list. He’s been doing this for, what, 8 seasons now? I’d like to see him finally get some recognition for his work.

If Oregon wins Pac 10 and
Floribama and Texas both lose would the MNC be Iowa vs Boise?
How could Nixon know so little about Watergate and so much about football ?

TCU would have to lose
and Floribama and Texas would need two loses. And Cincinnati would need a loss.

desmond doesn't like iowa's sytle of football?
did he not play in the big ten? also, his ragging on MSU shows his obvious “little brother” disdain still exists from his playing days.
and no desmond…going away and beating BYU and Clemson is not harder than going away and beating PSU, MSU, and Wiscy.

Thought for Discussion
I was reading the comments in the other post where someone asked if we’ll see a lot of Newsome today. It got me wondering.
With all the hype for Clark this week coming from Paterno and the coaches, does anyone think Guido is whispering in Joe’s ear that having a player in Heisman consideration would be good for recruiting? Not to mention future ticket sales?
I have a suspicion we’re going to see Clark play late into the game even if it’s a blowout. And I think he is going to put up some big numbers against that depleted Northwestern secondary. And I think after the game Joe will still be saying he doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

I think it depends more on the score
than it does Clark’s stats. If we are up 38-7 when the 4th starts, do you think Joe would still have Clark airing it out and taking shots at 50 yarders? I don’t see it even if Clark only has 180 yards, 1 td, 1 int. I could see it if Clark has silly stats (say 300 yards and 3 tds going into the 4th) and we’re only up 2 scores.
by PSUinBOSSton on Oct 31, 2009 10:46 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Does anyone think Joe cares about what Guido has to say?
If I were Joe I would politely tell him to go focus on what he’s good at while I coach the football team. Joe’s gonna do it how he’s always done it.

"Psst. Hey, Coach. It's me Guido. Got a second while I whisper in your ear?"
“You don’t mind if we talk like this do you? Yeah, it’s kinda gay, but hear me out. Are you listening? Okay. Maybe you should let our starting quarterback…what’s his name…eh, you know who I mean…let our QB play the entire game so he can pad his stats. For that Heisman thingy majiggy. Yeah, we need another one of those. Sorry, sorry…YOU need one of those. The Heisman, coach. That statue we feign not caring about? Who was the last guy who won it for us? John Spaghetti? Oh, all those Italian names sound the same to me. Hey, don’t look at me like that. My name’s Guido afterall. Sooooo whaddaya say coach? Time to open things up and let the monster loose? C’mon coach. If not for the fans, and alumni, and the trustees, do it for me?”
