GAME INFO: 12:00 kickoff on ESPN Classic.

WEATHER: Mid-50s, breezy, partly cloudy, nice fall day, I guess.

THE COACH: Bob Spoo.

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT EASTERN ILLINOIS? Jack. Absolute jack. Their QB is Jake Christensen (transfer from Iowa) and Tony Romo played there.

KEYS TO WINNING ON OFFENSE: Just, like, don't fumble or throw interceptions and stuff. Don't run Clark either.

KEYS TO WINNING ON DEFENSE: Tackle.

PANIC LEVEL: 1.5 out of 10 (Baseline 5, -1 for FCS team, -1 for The O-line is looking better, -1 for Tony Romo sucks, +1 for Joe says Eastern Illinois's a good football team, -1 for Joe said Illinois was a good football team, +1 for Iowa connection, +1 for Possible jinxing could occur due to lack of preview on front page and general sense of apathy, -1 for We're Penn State and we don't lose to these teams like Michigan does, -1 for They're not even a good FCS team, -0.5 for Boone will destroy them with his MEGAPUNTS)

PREDICTION: I will feel a desire to switch over to a better game. Penn State is playing an FCS team and it will show. 31-7

My guess

You won’t see Newsome until about 8 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. We’ll be up 21-3 at halftime. Clark will play the third quarter. Joe will think about pulling him, but Clark will throw an interception or take a sack or something and Joe won’t want him to think he’s getting pulled for it. So he’ll play one more series than he should. I just hope he doesn’t get hurt doing it.

Something to note is that EIU seems to have a decent run defense, averaging 2.7ypc. They did recently get burned by Eastern Kentucky, so we should be able to at least double that. However, with our inconsistent O-Line, who knows.

Here are some (un?) interesting facts about our noble opponent:

Don’t expect the home crowd in Beaver Stadium to affect them much. They have played to crowds of 10,013; 2,977; 9,053; 4,618; and 11,271. The two big crowds were home games. They must really love their Panthers!

They have a number of transfers from some top schools Iowa (2), Michigan (1), Florida (2), Minny (man, if you can’t get PT at Minny, wouldn’t worry too much about his skills), Naval Academy (wonder why he got kicked out) and several community college guys. They even have a DE who transferred from College of the Siskiyous (I think they are on Bobby B’s list of victims).

Just passing time on a slow Friday afternoon!
