In Pittsburgh

The ESPN Radio affiliate 1250 – isn’t playing the game – instead they have HS playoff football on. Just great…

I know there was a time, long, long ago...

Like 3 years ago….That we wouldn’t be able to see more than 2 or 3 PSU games a year anywhere other than in person, but now there are charging $3 for it? That is nonsense. I watched one of those games online last year, it was poor quality, and it would stop and start often…it’s not worth that much.

I'm hoping that sympathy doesn't extend to Bowden

I’ve lost all respect for the man. Joe may have been against the ropes after 2004 about retirement, but Bowden still refuses to bow down peacefully when his season so far has been in the toilet, and all that with an academic scandal riding on his back. I don’t doubt for a minute with a failing program and a massive academic scandal, Joe would have bowed out, but maybe I’m just a homer, but then again, an academic scandal would never have happened under Joe, so I guess that point is moo.

Since None Of You Saw...

-Good night for Brooks. Let’s see what he does against a good team.

-Tim Frazier defers far too much. I’m hoping it’s because he’s a frosh in his first couple of games in college, but both last week against the Rock and this week against Penn, he passed on some really good looks, many of which he created himself with his quickness.

-Jones had a rough night, but don’t overreact. The refs were calling thought fouls tonight, and he got caught up in it early and never got a chance to get in a flow.

-Talor Battle is a freak.

-Free throw shooting was as bad as it’s ever been. Without Pringle, I have no idea who is gonna hit the big ones at the end of the game. I guess it’s gonna have to be Talor who gets better there as well.

I used to listen to xpn all the time growing up in Philly.

oh

I was too busy seeing Live, Alanis Mooresette, Billy Joel, Rusted Root, Hootie and Toad and so many others…damn it was so convenient going to concerts at Penn State…pre-BJC.

by PSUWifey on Nov 13, 2009 10:48 PM EST up reply actions

I don't think they're going to have any good concerts this year

no offense to Fugi, who has the hots for Miley Cyrus and went to go see her. And this will obviously be argued b/c I hate rap, so I could care less about the Jay-Z concert this year.

But I’ve seen Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen up here, both of which were phenomenal. Dylan was supposed to be the first outdoor concert in Lubrano Park, but it got canceled and moved to the BJC, so it was a free for all for seats, and they allowed people to have standing room only in front of the stage, so I got to be 20 feet from Bob Dylan, which was incredible.

I’ve also seen Lewis Black, the comedian here, who put on a hilarious show, and at the end of the show he said that it was great that we beat Ohio State (this was a few days after last years game), which got thunderous applause.

I would have loved to see Billy Joel up here. They don’t get many of the classic guys I like very often. Mainly country, and rap, my two most hated genres of music.

And that’s why it’s funny. Why/how did so many people like it?

by PSUinBOSSton on Nov 13, 2009 10:48 PM EST up reply actions

I think Hanson was one of the first CD's I ever bought

As I recall, MMMbop was a mindless pop song, but the rest of the album was pretty good.

Talor Battle

Didn’t manage to catch the game, but Battle managed to enjoy himself afterwards. As a student desperately seeking a party, I saw Battle patrolling frat row with his entourage. By the look of the girls with him, he is certainly doing alright with himself.
