Daryll Clark, The Penn State Football Story Is...

Saturday!

Wow do I love football Saturdays…here’s hoping our defense takes out a lot of last week’s frustration out on the Hoosiers.

by whiteout1 on Nov 14, 2009 8:36 AM EST reply actions

Hangover

I know I am having a little trouble getting up for this game and I could imagine the team having the same issue. I suspect we come out slow today but hope that the leadership shows up on senior day and we come out swinging.

Oh, you’re talking about the football team?

Nevermind.

Soooo tired

Unfortunately we won’t be able to see most of the game live due to a conflict with pipsqueak soccer. Yay for DVR.

I am praying for my pick ’em….last week was BRUTAL. Mike launched ahead of me because I did so badly.

i'm sure this has been mentioned

but it’s really important that MSU wins today, so that when they play us next week, they are not playing for a bowl berth. that would have trap game written all over it.

We decide when you hear the snap count...

by thedrizzle on Nov 14, 2009 10:09 AM EST reply actions

MSU v Purdue

is gonna be a good game today. Even if they win this week they will still be playing for a bowl spot next week. Chances of getting a bowl at 6-6 are slim.

Would love to crush Sparty and be able to say we kept them home.

Assuming we win today, our guys will be plenty fired up next week, they will be playing for a BCS bowl.

by PSUWifey on Nov 14, 2009 10:26 AM EST up reply actions

Well...

That was the rationale before the OSU game as well…

Let’s hope it sinks in this time. And let’s hope that we can get a BCS bowl and have one more chance to prove ourselves.

It was the same story in 2005, they needed that win for 6 and we rolled.

Nah

We’ll be playing for a possible BCS bowl. We’ll be plenty motivated.

I’d love to have the satisfaction of keeping Sparty home for the bowl season. I’m already starting to feel the hate for next week.

did anyone catch desmond

calling purdue’s defense better than iowa’s? he didn’t say it in so many words…but he said basically said that he didn’t think that iowa could force the turnovers that purdue did against OSU…really???

god what a moron. i bet the media is glad they get a real reason to start sucking the OSU dick again…i’m sure they missed it.

We decide when you hear the snap count...

by thedrizzle on Nov 14, 2009 10:54 AM EST reply actions

I was thinking about this...

Before Florida destroyed them two years ago, was there a more hyped team than Ohio State?

Anyway,

Scoring defense:
Iowa – #13
Purdue – #86

Sacking defense:
Iowa – #47
Purdue – #8

Rushing defense:
Iowa – #37
Purdue – #96

Passing defense:
Iowa – #16
Purdue – #34

Total defense:
Iowa – #14
Purdue – #67

So Purdue leads in exactly one category.

How did Purdue force turnovers? They almost always blitzed at least one guy, Pryor was under pressure a lot, and he freaked out and started arm punting. If Howard doesn’t think Iowa can get pressure on Pryor, he’s ….

Hell, who cares? He’s just a talking head.

Pitt vs ND

Can somebody help me figure out who to root for in this game? I would normally root against whoever has the most to lose which is probably Pitt. But I keep tasting bile whenever I think of cheering for Weis to get a win over a top ten team.

Angry Mike

by AngryMike on Nov 14, 2009 11:08 AM EST reply actions

This Game Really Means Nothing For Pitt

If they lose, it doesn’t hurt them in the Big East race, and they have to win it to make the BCS anyway.

On the other hand, this could be the nail in Charlie’s coffin, so I’d have to say I’m rooting for Pitt.

That's something you have to decide for yourself

Especially for those of you in Pittsburgh who have to put up with Steeler fans who were just told that Pitt has a good football team.

Anyway, I’m rooting for Pitt in the hope that they’ll lose to Cincy later on.

Sam Lickliter. Never forgive. Never forget. Beat IU.

by ReadingRambler on Nov 14, 2009 11:14 AM EST up reply actions

You should root for ND

Because the more wins Pitt has, and the better season Pitt has… The more recruits they will take away from Penn State (IMO)

by stewsplace on Nov 14, 2009 11:16 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

I hope that is a sarcastic comment

considering we have the son of a former Pitt player and the son of a current Pitt coach coming in on this class. There were also rumors (unsubstantiated) about another Pitt recruit possibly jumping ship over to the good guys. We’re owning Pitt this year in recruiting.

Certainly won't change because they got 10 wins instead of 9 this year

I’m personally rooting against both teams. Hopefully the game is so pathetic they just tell everyone to go home at halftime.

Haha...no

I have a female friend who is a Notre Dame fan. and she’s a legit fan, not a “I’ve heard of them once on TV so I think they’re cool!” fan. And she’s not cocky/arrogant either. And the one time I was over her apartment, she had college football on.

So, yeah, those are my intentions for rooting for ND.

Penn State soon announcing season ticket surcharges

http://www.blackshoediaries.com/2009/11/14/1157064/psu-considering-new-annual-season

In order to accommodate some of the displaced, a section of the best student seats in Beaver Stadium will be taken from the undergrads and given to Nittany Lion Club donors.

These are the planned increases per seat, per season:

    * Season ticket holders who sit between the 40-yard lines would be required to pay $600.
    * Those who sit between the 40s and the goal lines would be asked for $400.
    * Those who sit around the end zones outside of the goal lines would be asked for $100.
    * Section ED would be emptied of students, many of whom would be upperclassmen, and given to Nittany Lion Club members whose seats are moved.

Averaged out to approximately $300 over 80,000 available seats, the license charges could be worth $24 million annually.

I'm at the game right now.

About three minutes to kickoff and section ED is the only part of the student section well represented. All other sections in the student section aren’t even half full.

"Is that right?" Joe answered. "That’s not a problem. But you’ve got a problem. You don’t relate to me. And that’s a big problem."

I would take the over in the MSU-Purdue game

Both those defenses are lackluster. Despite Dantonio’s rep as a defensive minded coach, he employs a fool in Narduzzi, and thus Cousins has to 30 points to win. Purdue’s defense isn’t that good either.

Just a hunch.

3rd and 2, trailing 10-0 Indiana runs a fullback dive and makes it easily. So much for playcalling.
