time to focus on the task at hand

we are at the magic number….now we just need to win to have a shot at the “at large”

Remember when we used to worry about the human voters love for USC?

The computers have them at 14. Wow.

Must be that big win over Notre Dame

Probably getting a free pass.

You know, since Carson Palmer and Matt Leinhart got hurt or graduated or something. I call it the Iowa/Oklahoma “We’d have won, if other people were playing” sympathy card.

The 'If other people were playing' game is a fun one

PSU players who in different circumstances could have lined up for us this year:
Project Mayhem
Maurice Evans
Chris Baker
Phil Taylor
Abe Koroma
Mike Mauti
Brandon Ware

Sadly, on offense, none of our would-be’s are really worth salivating over:
Stabby McShankerson

Stabby McShankerson

Good news is we didn’t even need him this year, our WRs are good without him and his cell phone case.

Stabby's doing great at Norfolk State.

He’s a monster at that level. He had two TD’s on Saturday. Don’t know if he has stayed completely clean or not.

This season

is jacked up. For the love of God, Virginia Tech is right behind us and they have 3 losses. Granted, two were to top 10 programs and similar to our losses, but that third one to UNC at home…bleh.

The BCS doesn’t know how to handle this clusterscrew of datapoints.

I'm done

moaning about our place in the polls for this year. With as flat as we continue to play for huge stretches of games, I can’t be confident we’d beat any ranked team in any environment.

As for everyone else, eh. Outside of ranking the top 2, and a team or two getting screwed out of a BCS at large, the polls don’t really matter.

how much I deeply despise the BCS system?

by dawsonPSU10 on Nov 15, 2009 8:49 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

As much as you despise USC, that's the same way I feel about LSU this year (and Okie State)

(McCarverism?)

I almost wish Pitt could play them. Because I think they would beat up on them.

Oklahoma State

Why do the computers like them more than us?

I didn’t think they would be ahead of both Iowa and Penn State.

I don’t think we deserve a BCS bid but…

Has another school been left out of the NCAA tourney AND lost out on a BCS bid in the same year due to horrific schedules? Just a thought.

by 16andCounting on Nov 15, 2009 9:46 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Now that's an interesting observation...

although I have to doubt if our football team would’ve been able to show up in a 3rd or 4th big game any better than we did in the 2 we did have. For example, if we played Cincinnati instead of Syracuse would we still be 9-2 right now?

by jimbo2psu on Nov 15, 2009 10:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

No.

Land Grant or bust. Worst 10-2 team ever? Beat Michigan State.

by jesse. on Nov 16, 2009 8:37 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, but really, do most of the teams ranked ahead of us deserve to be in the BCS?

No…

The only teams I think deserve bids/have REALLY earned them are TCU and Bama. Had Iowa not fallen apart, they’d be the third.

We actually dropped in the computer rankings since last week.

If we continued to be hangin tough at .260 instead of .200, its the difference between .4127 and .4327. Yes, 5 teames ranked ahead of us lost, and we still lost ground in the computers.

You’ve been masquerading as a droid all this time, but you finally let it slip. You ARE a robot. I just knew it! I’ll buy that prisons are getting more modern all the time (for streak’s sake, they’re choreographing youtube videos in phillipino ones), but droids are just too futuristic for any prison these days to get hold of.

I think we should start making American inmates choreograph mass dances

and then put it up on YouTube. I know I sure as hell wouldn’t want to go to jail only to be put up on youtube dancing to MJ, that’d be a hell of a deterrent.

Does this mean we can sentence the vols football players to 10 years hard time of doing the electric slide. If so awesome

by psu in the w-b on Nov 16, 2009 6:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Is anyone opposed?

I mean the Electric Slide has to be the most degrading dance of all time. You make inmates do that, they’ll be danced straight back to behaved society.

Hey...

Don’t knock the Electric Slide! The Chicken Dance is fun, too. Now, the Hokie Pokie and YMCA are other stories.

I expect the prisoners already do their version of YMCA when they shower..

OkSU does play Colorado next week, and their coach is Dan Hawkins.

P.S. Isn’t it great when nepotism bites you in the ass. The guy is a good coach, but plays his 2 foot tall son at QB. Reminds me of little league all star selections…..

Come after me! I’m a man! I’m 40! I’m not a kid! Write something about me! Or the coaches. Don’t write a kid that does everything right, that’s heart is broken, and then say the coaches say he was scared! That ain’t true! And then to say that we made that decision because Donovan Woods, because he threatened to transfer! That’s not true!

So, when the reporter wrote an article trying to piece together what happened, Gundy became Douche Man™ and went off on her picking on a 22yr old scholarship player to blame the media to cover for his being shady and and an idiot. Okie State might be on upset alert

this Thursday. Zac Robinson got nailed late in the game on Saturday, and his status is still uncertain for Thursday’s game against Colorado. It’s still a long-shot, but if Okie State is down their top two offensive playmakers, it could make for an interesting game.

in the end if we do get picked over Iowa for a BCS spot and you need some rationalization. Last season I believe NW and Iowa had the same record but NW had the head to head W. Iowa got picked over NW for the Outback.

is 6 undefeated teams at week 11 a record?

I know there’s 2-3 weeks left depending on the conference, but 6 undefeated teams in the top 6 seems awefully rare this late in the season. Maybe it’s b/c the mid-majors are getting more love then in the past.

It’s entirely possible we will have 5 undefeated teams come BCS selection, which should make for a great bowl year.
