Great Timeout Weather This Saturday
They are predicting a high near 50 for Saturday, but most of the game will probably be played in the lower 40s. Supposedly no rain.

NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE
Does this mean that Dantonio will have to organize a Sparty sit-in on the 50 yard line with 30 seconds left in the game, and demand that his team won’t leave until they no longer suck? That should keep us around until 2013 or so.

Does it matter?
Mike Patrick, Craig James, Heather Cox
I’ve actually come around on CJ in the booth. He’s an idiot in the studio, but he’s been good as a color guy from what I can remember.

And this is the kick in the balls Michigan fans probably don't need right now.

Patrick's not so bad
Oh, who am I kidding, we’ll bitch regardless. That’s what we’re supposed to do.
(Really, though, he’s not so bad when not tormenting Blackledge with questions about Brittney Spears)

This title wins.
The rest have been great, but this one absolutely wins.

I have 2 extra tickets if anyone is interested in sitting in this great timeout weather
face is $49/each ($98/pair) but I’m looking for $70/pair ($35 each). I doubt anyone on here that is planning to go doesn’t have tickets yet, but figured I’d post just in case.

Anyone see South Park last night?
Anyone enjoy delicious timely irony?

Extending an olive branch
In the interest of putting the timeout incident behind us, let’s agree on the following:
If Michigan State is up by 4+ touchdowns in the final minute of Saturday’s game, Joe Paterno is authorized to call a timeout to delay our fans’ celebration of the victory. We promise not to get mad if this scenario plays out.
As much as anyone, I’d like to see the poor judgment exercised by Mark Dantonio last year completely reversed this time around.

I liked your coverage of that incident
Which included a fine, strong finish: ‘I’d suggest showing them tape of MSU’s secondary getting burned for multiple long touchdowns, rather than focusing on a manufactured sportsmanship protocol violation.’
I’d only quibble with: ‘I realize I’ve strayed outside standard college sports blogger territory here by taking issue with something my own team’s coach did…’ Here’s hoping more blogistani denizens continue the objective approach you displayed such that it won’t feel like we’re straying from standard territory when necessary in the future.
Olive branch accepted from this reader. Good luck with that judgment reversal you seek; I’m afraid the affliction may run a little too deep to be achieved, but I can appreciate your wish as a fan of your team.

I appreciate the kind words
although they make it harder for me to hate you guys for hating us so much about the timeout thing.

What's the opposite of an Olive Branch?
Sorry about that. Here, you could use this to continue to hate me for my hate of your coach at large?

Umm, I retract then. Don’t need me no arse all shot up with arrows.

Nice writeup of the events last year
I think what a lot of the commentors said was true, and that Dantonio was probably getting “revenge” for our “celebrate the seniors” timeout. The reason (other than the fact that the fan base is obviously biased) between the timeouts is one was good natured and celebratory (though again, probably a bit premature, and a bit too “rubbing it in” for MSU), while the other was spiteful and bush league.
Also, back-to-back timeouts are very unusual, and really put an exclamation mark on the events. I don’t recall being that annoyed at the first timeout. I recall thinking something along the lines of, “gotta fight to the end, try to score if you can” and MSU was pretty deep into our territory. It was that second, wholly unnecessary timeout that set people off.
