Texas vs Penn State???
Happy Monday Everyone...
I live in Texas... I am a Texan... I just had the good fortune of getting to goto the greatest university on the face of the earth in Penn State. After coming back to the state of Texas after my degree at Penn State, I've been subjegated to all kinds of harassment about how Texas would manhandle Penn State. I've always pointed to the last time these traditional powerhouses met... 1997 my freshman year at State where State crushed Ricky Williams Longhorns 38-15. Where Ricky Williams a Heisman Trophy winner was held under 50 yards and Penn State ran for 330 yards.
Penn State has always done it with defense and hardnose running game. Even with the Spread HD we haven't really deviated too much from the old fashion runs. We still have great backs and OL that can punish teams on the ground.
If Texas looses one of their games (which doesn't seem likely, since they actually have a far easier schedule than we did) it looks like they will be locked in for the Fiesta Bowl. With Penn State winning out... Fiesta should pick up at-large bid and I believe it will be Penn State. How do you think our Ole State will fair against Texas and their spread attack? Wouldn't you like to see this matchup more than Boise State and Penn State??? I've been praying for this since 2000... please God... let A&M beat Texas.

We live in TX too
And although it would scare me to death to play TX, I would LOVE to see it.

Lots of TX folks here I guess...
I’ve been in DFW for 12 years or so now and if it isn’t burnt orange or maroon nobody seems to care… I’d love to lay a smackdown on Texas, but their special teams are so good and ours are so bad… It might not end well for our lads in blue

Any BCS bowl would be great as long as it is not a home game for the other team, i.e.- USC at the Rose Bowl, Miami at the Orange Bowl.

Don’t think you need to worry about the former…

Or the latter,
I’m pretty confident that Georgia Tech will be the ACC Coastal division’s representative, they’ve only got to get past Wake Forest and Duke. Though, this is the ACC, and having a 1 loss champion doesn’t happen very often. My money (figuratively) is still on Georgia Tech.

Question
Does anyone know what the worst loss in Penn State football history was, score-wise anyways? Only thing I can find was 2000 Ohio state beating us by 39 points.

Lehigh Universty beat us 106 to 0 once

Bad Times
These are the worst losses since 1970:
2000 O$U 45, PSU 6
1983 Nebraska 44, PSU 6
1997 Michigan State 49, PSU 14

Ouch
I was at that 97 game in East Lansing. I think two dudes of theirs ran for over 200 yards each. Sedrick Irvin and somebody? Downright brutal.

On the plus side, the strip clubs in Windsor were amazing!

I love this quote, because even though it was almost 12 years ago it happened, it’s coming from a man preparing to have twins in a few months, hahaha.

I love it
because Windsor is like 2 hours from East Lansing.
But yeah, I hear the strip clubs in Canada, especially border cities, are quite…well…amazing

Twins weren’t even an itch in my scrote. Hell, my wife wasn’t either, even. And a two hour drive to peep some topshelf canadian (and dutch and czech and danish) skrippas was a drop in the bucket.
Ahhh, nostalgia. I hear it’ll be my only salve going forward to the grave.

My dad and the majority of his side of the family are UT students or alums
They are my second favorite college team which is why my BSD alter ego is a longhorn. But my dad is EXTREMELY delusional about Texas and how good they are. He thinks Texas is the greatest of all time in the history of everything, and refuses to listen to reason. He thought Texas A&M would destroy us a couple years ago because they had beaten Texas earlier that year. Conveniently “forgets” the fact that we have a winning record against them, and are 2-0 in major bowls against them, both of which were blowouts, and claims our win total is super inflated because of all the years of being an Independent playing against Eastern teams, while ignoring the fact that the Big East has a winning record against the Big 12.
Suffice it to say, it’s very annoying and I would love to destroy them. Don’t know if it happens this year though. Last year I’d have taken us in a heart beat, but I think we need to improve a bit before I’d be confident in this game, or at least be more consistent (in a good way).

Annoying
I was at the A&M PSU alamo bowl~ A&M fans (who didn’t goto school there… actually didn’t look like they graduated college for that matter high school) kept making “gay” remarks about our “We are Penn State” cheer. My reply was pointing at their cheerleaders… who they call “yell leaders”… A&M is annoying and very cultish. Way worse than Pitt fans.
Everyone at work kept saying how McGee and Lane would run all over our defense… but Conner and company pretty much shut them down in the second half. Even with Morelli messing things up at the helm… we still beat em soundly.

If you haven't read "Freakanomics",
Steven Leavitt has a great chapter devoted to the correlation of name to success.
Overall a great read that gets your mind thinking a little differently. I give it 4 red stars.

How bout those rents who named their kids Winner and Loser? Real tough to guess how that worked out, huh?

my uncle was at the PSU/A&M bowl game in '99
some big dumb hick at a mcdonalds confronted him because he had a PSU sweatshirt on, and the only thing he could think of to brush off the beatdown we served them was, “well, you’ve gotta admit, we won halftime.”
HALFTIME!?!?! zomg texans…

I'm in the DFW area now, too, but ...
my daughter is going to Penn State next year. She is extremely happy and will probably be a Lionette if all goes well. The Big 12 fans are delusional, but everyone I work with respects Penn State. Those SEC ’tards are another story.

Respect
Yes… I will give the respect that everyone gives to Paterno and the PSU program. But when it comes down to who’s better… the whiny orange and worthless maroon can come out with all kinds of expectations. Big 12 is a flag football league that hates defense… they hate running the ball with their runningbacks… they hate tackling… they hate low scoring games…
SEC fans are just nuts… I goto venues all over the country but since I am a minority I’m scared to go to an SEC game; espeacially wearing a Penn State Colors… i.e. Tuscaloosa.

Oh I'll be in Tuscaloosa next year baby...
My wife went to LSU (and yes, she does sound hot) so I’ve been to a bunch of their games and while the folks there can be a little in your face about their team, if you know your stuff they’ll respect you. Just don’t be stupid and the liquor and food will flow from the loaded SEC tailgate right into your conquering stomach…

Indiana vs Penn State
Does anyone know where the public can buy the tickets to next year Indiana Penn State game at Fedex field in DC next year?
by HailState77 on Nov 3, 2009 11:24 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
I don't know if that's been made public...
I can’t imagine IU selling out their portion of the tickets and can see them being available without a problem. Call the BJC ticket office – 1800-nittany
If you are a NLC member, it will be an away game choice on your ticket application.
