I believe Iowa's largest alumni group is in Arizona
as most have said, I think Iowa gets the Fiesta and PSU gets the Orange. Texas getting to the MNC would be in Iowa’s favor.

The Big 10, like every other conference, can only have 2 teams in the BCS.
Ohio State is clearly one. So it is either Iowa or PSU.

You know what'd be awesome?
If Temple got their crap together today and decided to start playing some football. They’re only down 3-0 to Kent State, but managed just 1 yard of offense in the first quarter.

Flat out no?
I don’t agree with that. If you want to say their attendance would be better, or perceived as better, ok. But if you are saying it is actually a wash, then I think they take us.
by PSUinBOSSton on Nov 21, 2009 2:09 PM EST up reply actions
I don't think it matters
The perception nationally is that we’re screwed, and in cases like this, the media tends to be correct. People that know people hink we’re in trouble.

I haven’t heard 1 “expert” say we’re screwed.

Pretty much
I think it could go either way. PSU certainly isn’t boned.
"I'm colonel cool! And I'm the captain on this rocket to the stars!"
If Texas weren't a lock for the MNC, PSU would likely jump Iowa.
But, as most have said, the Fiesta covets Iowa. If the Orange had the first at large choice, PSU would be the team.
by The Mexican't on Nov 21, 2009 2:13 PM EST up reply actions

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
“Deserve.” I can guarantee there is not one bowl official concerned with that. Not one.
by PSUinBOSSton on Nov 21, 2009 2:15 PM EST up reply actions
Psh deserve
Deserve is bull crap. You get what you get, and you are only as good as your record. Deserve dosen’t have crap to do with it.
"I'm colonel cool! And I'm the captain on this rocket to the stars!"
I don't think theres an argument that we're that much better a draw than them
and in that event, it’s gonna go to the team that deserves it, and seeing as they beat us, that’s Iowa.
God Created the World Out Of Nothing, Paterno Built A National Superpower On Cow Fields...
by Adam Bittner on Nov 21, 2009 2:18 PM EST up reply actions
I don't know who has the edge, but they will have information that one team is more profitable.
They have TONS of economic data to base this decision on. And it will point to one team over the other. I’m not sure which one that is, but deserve will never be a serious factor. In this climate even more so.
by PSUinBOSSton on Nov 21, 2009 2:20 PM EST up reply actions
TV
Both teams travel well, but I believe PSU does better TV wise from everything I’ve heard. It may not be enough though.
"I'm colonel cool! And I'm the captain on this rocket to the stars!"
I'm with these guys.
there is no “deserving” a BCS bowl, except the title game. BCS bowls are no different than any other bowl. Butts in seats is all that matters. Both Iowa and PSU will provide those, but Iowa’s largest alumni base is in Arizona, and the Fiesta knows that.
by The Mexican't on Nov 21, 2009 2:19 PM EST up reply actions
There's very little deserve in the MNC either...
Whoever the media has a crush on goes.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
-J.V.Pa.
That's a valid point.
I’d be willing to say that TCU is better than Texas this year, but that’s what pre-season polls do. They ruin teams chances at the MNC.
by The Mexican't on Nov 21, 2009 2:23 PM EST up reply actions
Not necessarily true
or at least not as true as we believe. There’s been studies that show that the bias we think exists isn’t as strong to alter the rankings significantly.
FWIW, the Colley Matrix uses no pre-season rankings or other possible biases – just results on the field for the current season. They still have Texas ranked ahead of TCU. But this all goes back to the fact that having 120 FBS teams, plus the games against FCS teams, makes it hard to properly connect and compare two teams not from the same conference.
"In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
I doubt any bowl would be interested in a reigonal matchup like that.
"I'm colonel cool! And I'm the captain on this rocket to the stars!"
This
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
