TV Rankings Not Easily Found.....
The BCS has been a hot topic today on the site. One of the the discussions that has spawned from the greater subject is conering TV rankings. I have been trying to nail down some of these elusive stats and comparisons but it has proven to be a little difficult. However, I have found the attached link concerning TV rankings and CFB. It is from the WSJ via the Statesman. The information is a bit dated but does provide some interesting analysis and perspective. If anyone else has some good data then I would thnk it would be interesting to see.
It is unfortunate that the standing system does not allow for the "most deserving" teams to play it out H2H but the below information is the type of data that does play into the decision making process by the selection committees.,

Link to the WSJ Data
Here is the link to the actual data. The most telling narrative to the quantitative data is this:
“Two of last three Hawkeye bowls had ratings of at least 20% below average.”

Those stats are incredibly weird
Oregon? Some teams with massive fan bases in the negative? Just odd.

The three that were strange to me in the negatives were Texas, Miami, and Florida State. Those are all schools from populous states. The other negatives make sense…most are from small states (population-wise). While they may travel well, there just aren’t enough people to actually watch the games to boost tv ratings. Nebraska is a prime example of this in this particular study.

It'll be even better for us - that didn't include the Orange Bowl, which had record viewership
Or the other games.

The BCS website......
has some info as well.

Unfortunately, though: all info on the BCS website is guilty until proven innocent. Playoffs kill kittens!

They have it sourced.....
up through like 2003. I found 2008’s on the Nielson website and compared. The BCS website has some of those dead on and some inflated.

I find it very shocking
that the second highest tv ratings for a non championship BCS game was the Rose Bowl between Wisconsin and Stanford.
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face
I don't like this data set
Oregon hasn’t been in a BCS or really big bowl since 1995. So when they go to the Emerald Bowl ratings go up 18%? If Notre Dame or PSU went to the Emerald Bowl, I guarantee you ratings would go up more than 18% over that Bowl’s average. I guess my point is that the bowls Oregon goes to have a pretty lousy pool of teams to pick from so when they get Oregon instead of Fresno State more people watch than normal. PSU and Florida State get to go to perenially high rated bowls which always get very attractive schools to choose from so the incremental effect of PSU or FSU is smaller.

Oregon was in the Fiesta Bowl in 2001

Research
I have neither the time nor the inclination to do any research for this stuff but since you need to be so anal about this stuff I will revise for you..

It doesn't matter if you "won't remember them" years from now because we'll probably all be dead years from now.

I think you're being a bit over the top
I was just offering a minor correction. It’s not like I was shooting holes into your post or calling you an idiot.
