Getting a Pulse: How confident are you?
Heading into last year's game I was outrageously confident we'd win. There wasn't a doubt in my mind. I think I predicted we'd win like 49-17 or something. Needless to say come 3rd quarter I was sweating bullets.
But this year is different, I'm nervous, I'm worried about our O-line, and I'm not sold on our safeties. I was wondering how confident people are around here. I know it's hate week, but let's be honest.

Nice
Love me some succinct!

I'm confident because our QB is not named Terrelle Pryor.

Barring any weird set of circumstances
we should win by 2 scores. We’re the better team and we’re better where it really counts….DL, OL, and QB. I just really upset that I won’t be there for the game and I might not even be able to watch the game. Ugh!!!! This is a freaking nightmare!!!

What about our LBs?

I'm confident...
….but we’re capable of losing this game.

I think it's our game to lose
I don’t see OSU beating us, just possibly us losing (turnovers, stupid penalties, etc)

We clearly
have a better QB and that’s the biggest factor. Also, them not having Aaron Petrey is a big deal. I think the only way we don’t win is if there are too many turnovers. I’m looking for something like a 27-10 win.

70/30
That’s how I feel. If we lose, it’ll be close, but if we win, it could be big. The spectrum of outcomes ranges from about -7 to +16 in my eyes.

I'm nervous.
It’s definitely our game to win or lose. I do think we have the better team, but with everything I’ve seen this season, well…I just don’t know.
Final score, 12-9

There’s gotta be some karma for me fighting with OSU losers on EDSBS.

I saw that
and major kudos. Generally EDSBS posters don’t rag on PSU too much, but there’s always the occasion out-of-touch Buckeye.
Just don’t go/read 11W. They have only a handful of reasonable posters of there. But I guess that’s to be expected. Funny thing is.. it’s the exact opposite for MGoBlog… some classy guys over there believe it or not.
At least that’s my impression.

If we lose, it'll look like the Iowa game.
But I think we’re a lot better now than we were back in late September. Maybe that’s just me.

^^^^^^^right here baby
Only way we lose is if Clark has happy feet in the pocket, a la Iowa. I think Green is a potentially big factor that isn’t getting much attention. If he can go, a few big screen passes early could slow down the rush and open things up. We’re the better team, and so we should win. But the edge is not so great that we can make big mistakes.

He's expected to get 8-10 touches
so pretty much back to normal for him. With their D-line we might need a few screens out of him.

I'm nervous, but I'm always nervous, especially before big games
I hate not being able to be confident about a game, but that’s just me. My heart won’t stop pounding until we’re absolutely crushing them, or the game is over.

Same
But in this case if we’re up late, I’m not too worried about jaOSU’s ability to come back.
Wouldn’t it be sweet if we could get up by a couple of scores,
maybe with the quick strike like that one game we perhaps didn’t play earlier this season.
Or a hurry-up offense on our first possession, like UM did against us.
by confirmy on Nov 5, 2009 11:40 PM EST up reply actions 1 recs
I'm not that good with math
but I’d be willing to bet the amount of lead we have is directly proportional to the number of erratic, poorly thrown, desperate, arm punts tOSU produces.

+1
for combining j and aOSU

The only thing keeping this game close
is our offensive gameplan. If we come to play and we’re allowed to play, we win hands down.
If we come out and we’re really conservative, we probably still win, but it’ll be a lot closer than it has to be.

How wide open can we be?
By that I mean JoePa going full Hayden Fry/Joe Tiller and chucking it 40+ times. Against that front seven which will probably get quite a bit of pressure? And with likely little running game production to keep pressure of off Clark?
This has “14-10” written all over it.

Deep balls vs. 15-20 yd balls
As long as Clark throws it where they AREN’T and where we are (not necessarily WIDE open… just in a spot where they can’t get it) I think we have an advantage. I mean their D is great, but I don’t think it’s to our level. I mean, Purdue got 4 balls picked off, but that still means Purdue’s offense had to drive at least a few times on the OMG DEFENSE
by AdamShell on Nov 6, 2009 11:05 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I gotta disagree
I hope we keep it conservative. The more we open it up, the better chance of turning it over. The only way Ohio State wins it is with a short field all game. If we play ball control and make them go 70, 80 yards all night we win. Conservative isn’t always a bad way to play.

Joe’s all time winningest coach title agrees with you
You know what’s really funny? I find myself watching NFL or other NCAAF games and complaining when they’re not playing Joe Paterno football. Like when I see teams winning by 7 points with 3 minutes to go and WTF WHY ARE YOU PASSING?!
