Well, I really don’t deserve to be first on this (probably still on open thread). Anywho, congratulations and well done. NCs are awesome, particularly x3.

Prior to the season

I said we probably wouldn’t go undefeated again and might not win the NC…

As far as I know...

You can’t give yourself a “suck it”, but we’ll make an exemption due to special circumstances.

Tru dat.

This team had a ridiculous amount of guts.

helluva come back.

one of the most exciting games i can remember in volleyball. tons of heart, way to fight back and make history.

grats girls (i’ll be waiting for you at the airport to keep you warm in this “frigid” state college weather)

We have little tranquility but tons of tranquilizers.

I thought this match was over when we went down 2-0

We were playing like crap and getting dominated by Hooker, although I figured we’d at least win one set. Definitely didn’t see this level of comeback happening. This will rank near the top of “Most Exciting Games I’ve Ever Seen”, right up there with tOSU 2008. The team is just unbelievably talented, and they deserve every award and honor they can get. GRADULATIONS!!!! WE ARE!!!!

Interesting statistic....

ESPN reported this last weekend & I updated the numbers. During the streak of 102 matches, there have been 90 shutouts, 6 four set matches & 6 five set matches. So, we have won 306 sets and lost 18 for a 94.4% winning percentage.

what a fantastic game

it is rare that I’m on the edge of my seat for any part of a non-football game but I have to say that the last three sets of this game were incredible.
Congratulations to this very deserving team!

Same here.

This was a lot of fun to watch. More exciting than any football game we were in this year.

I know about your diabolical plan.

Also fun

going outside in 20+ inches of snow after the game in a city that can handle about zero inches.

i was actually thinking after the match

i haven’t seen a sporting event this exciting/nerve-racking since…maybe the 2005 orange bowl and/or 2005 jaOSU.

by thedrizzle on Dec 20, 2009 12:00 PM EST up reply actions

2008 jaOSU was probably just as nerve racking for me.

The whole game was riding on which team was going to make the first mistake. Until that point, nothing was certain, and in fact it was looking like tOSU was going to win 6-3. I can remember how hard my heart was pounding, and then that immense, and sudden wave of pure joy when the first and deadliest mistake was made. You could feel the tension in the whole dorm, and then as soon as the fumble happened, you could hear everyone screaming down the hallway.

All the ladies lion were awesome last night

but D’Errico was ridiculous. I don’t think she let a Texas kill hit the floor and was digging every tipped attempted block.

Texas's Defense

Was nothing short of phenomenal. My hats off to them, they really brought it.

by STU Boy on Dec 20, 2009 12:07 PM EST up reply actions

Seriously, Texas is a very good team and played a heck of a game last night. They deserved a championship just as much as PSU — and I think they’d have easily won one if they hadn’t encountered our current dominant team.

I wonder who Texas is loosing this season because we certainly are losing some great players in Hodge and Glass (though with a monster recruiting class coming in and some great young players already on the team).

by Laaaaazzz on Dec 20, 2009 3:19 PM EST up reply actions

darcy dorton really impressed me

her play and enthusiasm at the beginning of the 3rd set IMO really ignited the team, specifically the seniors, who must have suddenly realized that it was their final match.

i can already see her next season, as a sophmore, becoming a leader.

by thedrizzle on Dec 20, 2009 3:54 PM EST up reply actions

She's a leader now.

She has the most enthusiasm on the team, and that says A LOT. While we will lose one of the best hitters and setters on the team this year, we will certainly reload and be back to defend next year.

Truly Great performance

Started watching the game, thought no way we’d pull it out when down 0-2. But then I thought, Hell, these girls have swept most teams they’ve played, 3-0. So it’s totally possible! Then I heard them say last year the ‘horns’ were up 2-0 on Stanford and blew that match. Guess what, PSU experience and grit won out. Nice job and helluva effort, ladies! Congrats

Sorry I missed it, everyone.

I was in beautiful Toledo, Ohio at a minor league hockey game. I was actually only able to watch the fifth set, but that was not want for action. Gradulations to The Team!

awesome

Did anyone catch the Russ Rose fist-pump at the end of the game? That was just about the most violent emotional explosion I’ve ever seen from him. It’s the Rose equivalent of Jim Valvano running onto the basketball court looking for someone to hug.

Congrats to Rose and the ladies.

Congrats to them. It was an awesome game to watch! Too bad no HD!

by gnuf on Dec 20, 2009 9:43 PM EST reply actions

pretty sure if they go undefeated next season

and make it to the national championship it’ll be in HD. they will seriously be in no man/womans territory at that point.

i wouldn't be surprised in a years time

if HD cameras are almost standard for like 90% of ESPN’s programming. i mean at least they could get us some 720p up in this bitch!
