So Apparantly...
...we played a basketball game today.
And we won.
For the Glory of Old State
For her founders strong and great.
For the future that we wait,
Raise the song, raise the song.
Sing our love and loyalty,
Sing our hopes that bright and free
Rest, O Mother, dear with thee
All with thee, all with thee.
When we stood at childhood’s gate,
Shapeless in the hands of fate,
Thou didst mold us dear old State
Dear Old State, dear old State.
May no act of ours bring shame
To one heart that loves thy name,
May our lives but swell they fame,
Dear old State, dear old State.

That and "It's a Small World After All"
Got stuck on that ride on the same trip I saw Miley Cyrus and I was about ready to jump of the boat and start throwing those dolls at people.

I miss
The good, the bad, and the ugly for basketball this year. Can Mike or someone else restart it or do something similar? The team deserves an update every 2-3 games or so.

If I had seen this game
I’d do it, but like the Senate health care vote, this game was invisible.

True.
But at least we’ve been more visible than in years past. We’ve been on tv, what, 3 times so far this year?
A quiet win against a rebuilding team is better than a loss as well. I just figured a few people would want an update at least every few games like we used to have. Maybe a final OOC post before Big 10 season would do the trick as well.

Yeah
Well here’s a cliff notes OOC since I guess you haven’t seen many games.
1. We beat all the crappy teams we played at home.
2. We lost games we shouldn’t have in a preseason tournament like we do every year.
3. We lost a tough road game to a good Temple team.
4. We lost a home game to Virginia Tech because Delaney is the ****ing man.
Our rebounding kind of stinks is inconsistant, and our perimeter game isn’t very good either. Jeff Brooks and David Jackson are finally coming on as we’d hoped, and Frazier and Edwards look pretty good as freshmen.
I think this team is better off than its record indicates. The teams we lost to outside of Charleston were very good, and the ones we did lose to were probably a result a team being forced to gell a little too soon in a less than desireable, game-every-day environment. Whether they’ll be able to overcome this somewhat crappy start to get to the NCAAs is another question, but I think this team will be OK in the Big 10, and a player in the NIT at the end of the day.

Not just Delaney though
Some missed free throws killed us, as did poor interior defense. And no one besides Battle really did anything.
