almost impossible
6 conference losses means just about every other team would have to be 8-8, meaning Baltimore or Denver have to lose once and so does every other 7-7 team…of all the contenders Pitt is in the worst shape in terms of tiebreakers.
NittanyWhiteOut.com. Arguably the second best Penn State blog I know of.
Since they beat Denver & Tennessee, the Steelers aren't in that bad of a situation.
Since the Jaguars, Jets, Broncos & Texans are all underdogs this weekend, if the favorites win in those four games & the Steelers beat the Ravens this week & the Dolphins next week, the Steelers are in the playoffs. The Steelers are favored this weekend.
If those four other teams lose & the Steelers win both of their games, the Steelers would finish in a tie at 9-7 with one to three other teams. While the Ravens would win a tie-breaker for the first wild card spot, the Steelers would win the tie-breaker with either of the other two teams that could possibly be tied with them, Denver & Tennessee. Exactly.
Besides winning this weekend, the biggest game as I see it this weekend for Pittsburgh is the Houston – Miami game. If Houston beats Miami, Miami is done, but then Houston goes to NE next weekend and chances are NE has nothing to play for by then.
