Heisman finalists announced
To no one's surprise, McCoy, Ingram, Tebow. To (perhaps) some people's surprise: Suh, Gerhart
So long as Tebow doesn't win it, I'm fine with any of the choices. Secretly cheering for Suh or Gerhart...

Ditto
Suh or Gerhart winning it would be awesome.

Good point
I forgot about Spiller. He should be on that list of finalists. Bump McCoy out.

For me, McCoy stays
I think he’s actually deserved it as he’s been a big reason why Texas is in the MNC. For me, Tebow is the easier one to kick out – it’s been the Florida defense that carried them through the tougher match-ups.

but, yeah
you, like the rest of us (presumably), don’t get a vote. so my vote’s on bacon. then zug. guess which one of us will win?

and by the way
spiller and suh are my top two as well

I've been on Gerhart's bandwagon since the ND game
He was incredible (yeah, I know, ND’s defense sucks, but still). Seems like a real class act kid too. I’m really hoping he wins it. But so help me Zug, if Tebow wins this again, I’m going to break something valuable. I just hope all his sobbing on national TV didn’t influence the voters.
Tebow and McCoy were both meh this year. Ingram was good, and will most likely win it. But Suh and Gerhart are also my top picks.
He's scored a lot of freakin touchdowns
My invitees, in order:
Suh
Gerhart
Ingram
Spiller
McCoy
I think McCoy’s still the MSM’s pick.

The Judeo-Christian mojo has a little too much momentum this year

By "real class act kid"
You mean “white running back” right?

But in all seriousness
I meant good student (he’s taking like 21 credits so he can finish his degree this semester), no crime, no showboating, and definitely no media fellation.
I didn't even know who Gerhart was till ND
And that’s a big problem. Most East Coasters don’t see him enough while they get a pretty big fill of the SEC and to a lesser extent, Texas. The vote splits may be interesting.
Just me or does Gerhart remind you of a certain heisman winner who wore Blue and White?

Gerhart or Suh would be awesome(as stated above)
Realistically, I think it shakes out like this
Ingram
McCoy
Tebow
Gerhart
Suh
I think McCoy lost it with his performance this weekend and with Ingram having a great day against Florida. Suh wasn’t even invivted to NY until this weekend, defense has no chance. Tebow shouldn’t be in the top 10, but will have a strong finish.
If Tebow wins, I will kill someone.

I'm mostly okay with the group
I think McCoy, Ingram, and Gerhart have all had the numbers and media support to be there. I figured this was the year that a defensive player made their way to top 5, and Suh made a great final statement in that NXII Championship game. And as mentioned above, Tebow is the media selection and that’s it – otherwise he’s filling up someone else’s spot. Spiller, Masoli, Kellen Moore – all should get the chance to be on that stage ahead of Tebow.
For me, I’m pulling the “A-Rod Clause” and saying Gerhart should win. His numbers are amazing, even if the team’s record isn’t.

Those are some good choices, too bad he's taking up a spot.
I’m so glad the Tebow phase is coming to an end. He’ll probably get replaced though, but it can’t get that bad again… can it?
Anybody have a good sortable site
How many defensive players have ever even been invited.

I think Hugh Green came the closest to winning.

Vince Lombardi
Charles Woodson won it
and I know he played some offense but was primarily a CB

I think he also was a gamebreaker on kick/punt returns.
PS Going to Michigan helped a lot!

Suh
Look, I still hate Nebraska for 1994. But the hubris they showed firing Solich has softened my hatred because of the schaudenfreude I’ve experienced during the Callahan era.
2 years ago, before Suh broke out, Nebraska was 114th in defense. This year, they’re 2. Granted, this is not entirely Suh. But the guy is a monster. He takes up 2 blockers and still makes plays. He is the defensive equivalent of QB that can run and throw. He’s definitely the most dominant player on the field.
