Penn State Beat Man's Best Friend 58-42
Nice, uh, wrist action you got there.
Much like the gentlemen in the video, it wasn't a pretty win. Penn State stumbled through an abysmal first half shooting just 34% and actually trailing in the final three minutes before the break. Perhaps they were a bit hung over from the disappointing Temple loss. Or maybe they were looking ahead to Virginia Tech this weekend. Regardless, it was a terribly slow start against a winless opponent.
But a little spurt gave them a slim four point halftime lead. After the break a dunk by Brooks and a three from Frazier sparked the offense to life and Penn State cruised to the final 58-42 score from there.
Jeff Brooks continues to impress scoring in double figures for the fifth time this season. He's easily the most improved player this season.
Andrew Jones is showing signs of breaking out of his funk with a double-double. We'll need him to be a solid presence in the middle going forward.
It was a great team effort with 20 points coming off the bench. Chris Babb is coming around with his three point shooting. But as a team Penn State is still struggling from behind the arch only shooting 4-of-21.
Next up is Virginia Tech on Saturday.

Those guys aren't that bad.
Anyway, I only got to the game at halftime because I had a test…
-Didn’t see a defensive breakdown all night, at least in the second half. Best defensive effort of the season and it isn’t even close.
-How can DJ go from 26 points to none in 2 games? He’s frustratingly inconsistent. I don’t expect much. Chip in 5 dude, it’ll go a long way. But I can’t understand how he can just disappear against an awful team like UMBC.
-Rebounding was also unbelieveable. I knew we looked good at the game, but I didn’t think 48-22 good. Holy jebus. Again, frustratingly inconsistent (granted this was UMBC and not Temple).
-Last two games Penn State has shot nearly no free throws. I don’t know what’s with the refs, but the offense would get better, naturally, if the team got more shots from the line.

Um, yeah
Didn’t see a defensive breakdown all night, at least in the second half.
The help defense and rotation, or lack thereof, in the first half left me feeling like Bob Knight.
But it got better, at least.
As for DJ? Who the hell knows, man?

Just got back from a snowball fight in the East Halls quad.
I’m proud to report the SOBs in Curtin we pinned at their front door before the police had to bail their losing asses out.

Ah giant east halls snowball fights.
I got tackled by Phil Taylor during one my freshman year. A sign of things to come I guess.
I think I remember that story.

Yeah, wasn't me,
I got tackled, like charged into, not like that lol. He wouldn’t be able to throw me, thankfully, because that looked like it hurt like a muthaSHUTYOMOUTH
first game....
….I got to see at least a half of. Not gonna put too much stock into the performance because of the opponent, but Frazier and Edwards looked great. I feel good about the next 2-3 years.
