Baseball Starts Off the Season vs St. John's

Mike Lorentson is the starting pitcher for the Nittany Lions today in their season opener in Dunedin, Florida. They will take on St. John's out of the Big Least. PSU has struggled in the past few years to start off the season. St. John's is always a pretty good team, so hopefully the Nits can put it together early. Let's break the trend.

P.S. How about a little more baseball coverage this year?

I think so

I’ve been working on how to get stats and game scores, I read a lot of MLB stathead blogs and was hoping to take that approach, but the data just isn’t there like it is for pro ball.

We’re working on it, thought, give us a couple of weeks to get going.

You read my mind

I was going to start a thread about baseball today but got busy. I hope Wine gets things turned around starting this year. We’ve got the facilities and he’s been here a few years so it’s time to start seeing the fruits of his labor. I usually follow the team because there’s usually a few players from the Reading/Boyertown area.

Game Coverage

I can cover the team pretty well if you’d like me to. I’ll do a game-by-game deal, or wrap up the weekends pretty in-depth. Just let me know. I just posted a Fanpost on yesterday’s game and I can keep doing it if that is what people want.

More PSU baseball info please

I follow the Phillies a bunch and would love to know how my alma mater’s team is.
I know they have a fancy new stadium – I hope it helps them more than BJC helps the bball team!

Well here's the situation

You’re not going to get it from me. I am completely maxed out, folks. I’m kind of covering the basketball team and recruiting right now. I’ve also got a PSU media related project going on the side right now that is going to swamp me from now until May. I really don’t have time to start following and covering another PSU sport I have never followed in my life.

I know Kevin said he wants to do more baseball coverage this year. I don’t know how much time he plans to devote to it, but if someone who really follows the baseball team wants to give us period updates like Icersguy is doing for the hockey team we would gladly promote them to the front page. That would allow Kevin to focus on more in depth football coverage.

Slacker.

Just kidding.
It would be great if someone stepped up to the plate (get it?) like Icersguy about hockey.
Need my PSU sports fix and this is definitely the place to get it.

The Phillies

Recently signed former PSU catch Joe Blackburn to some minor league type of deal. I thought that was neat

Looks like a tough start, L 15-6

The plan right now is to try and wrap the weekends up on Monday, obviously if any of you have knowledge of the program or just want to help out let me know.

There is a 1pm game against NW today. Why the BTN isn’t there I don’t understand.
