The only difference between MN & PSU

The Gophers had an equally putrid non-con schedule, except for one game: Louisville on a neutral court, and they won it. Take that game away, and PSU is definitely ahead of them, especially with how the Gophers collapsed down the stretch.

Please please please can we schedule decent non-con games next year? I’m not advocating taking on the blue bloods, but go get some middling teams from major conferences, or top-tier teams from mid-major conferences. No more Army, Lafayette or New Jersey Tech please.

So, if we had played Pitt, and then had beaten Rhode Island and played Villanova, we’d probably be ahead of them.

Probably

If we would’ve just beaten Rhode Island, and then at least avoided getting blown out by Villanova, then yes, I think we’d be in ahead of them.

Arizona

Joke. They say the jerseys don’t matter, but I don’t buy it now. Not even. Yes I am bitter, but it is fucking ridiculous. How else could you explain no “experts” having them in but the committee selects them.

You cannot tell me they are better than us, St. Mary’s, and Creighton. Ridiculous.

by STU Boy on Mar 15, 2009 6:42 PM EDT reply actions

Normally I make a point of taking the team everyone says doesn’t belong and picking them to win a game (it almost always works, especially if Billy Packer is the one bashing them). But not this time. Arizona definitely doesn’t belong, and Utah is going to flat-out wreck them.

NIT selection show

9pm on ESPNU. Anyone want to give an update when it hits – some of us aren’t so lucky to get all the fancy channels…

Calmer Now

But honestly, I would not have been this upset if the last spot went to Creighton over us. I would have been mad, but understood the decision. But Arizona, come on!

This one is on ED unfortunately.

What's on Ed?

Penn State had a good season; not as good as we would have hoped last week, but better than most anyone expected at the beginning of the year.

We had a good year, and a good one to build on for next year.

I wouldn't trust old rooster me neither.

by spakajewia on Mar 15, 2009 6:54 PM EDT up reply actions

ED made this schedule

I would be extremely shocked if Curley had anything to do with scheduling in just about any sport.

Committee chair talking

He said “wins against good teams away from home” are important. Guess the rest of the committee didn’t get the memo regarding Arizona (one RPI top 150 win away from home, and that was a neutral court, not a true road game).

by SpartanDan on Mar 15, 2009 6:54 PM EDT reply actions

Looking ahead to next year too soon?

We lose Morrissey, Pringle, and Cornley. I don’t think losing Danny is that big of a deal, and Pringle will be replaced with Babb I think. But losing the leadership and the heart of Cornley is going to be devastating in my opinion. I doubt we will have near as good a season that we had this year. That is why I’m a little pissed.
FYI…the SEC commish just said he looked for an entire body of work and looked for bin wins away from home….thank you athletic director whom shall remain nameless.

I feel better now

Anonymous at B 101 says:

Arizona is officially the scariest 12 seed in tournament history. The week off will allow Jordan Hill’s (#3 pick in the draft) ankle to heal. And they have an easy road. Utah is toast, and Wake and the east coasters won’t know what hit them.

I blame Iowa

for my own selfish reasons though, is there any chance Talor Battle is considering going to the NBA soon?

I look forward to the day when the words "Penn State" and "Soft Schedule" are never used in the same sentence.

Great season for our team and great threads over the last few days, even better than the gasp football threads.

The black hole in our OOC. One look at that and everything around it implodes. Who’s next? DeVry University? University of Phoenix? Lincoln Tech?

It’s like our administrators have no sense of reputation.

Looks like we get at least another home game

Well, we only have ourselves to blame. lost a few key games and did not play a tough enough early schedule.
It was a great Big Ten season for us.
We should be getting a home game on either the 17th or 18th.

Sad reailty

Even with a #1 seed, we will not win the NIT. It’s hard to get the team up for the retarded step-sister of the NCAA tourney.

I bleed Blue and White.

Topping it all off...

No PSU, plus Michigan as a 10 seed??? Added insult of getting two of the most annoying fanbases (Michigan and OU) coming to my hometown this week. I might buy a Clemson hat or something.
