Not sure how many people this helps, but GoPSUSports is saying the Nittany Lions' second round NIT game will be televised on FSN Pittsburgh.

Can't Wait to see how many "Panthers on the Prowl" ads show up

God Created the World Out Of Nothing, Paterno Built A National Superpower On Cow Fields...

Probably just as many as the "Shamwow" ads that were on last nite's game

I usually complain that the Pittsburgh media only cover PSU when it is convenient for them, but I am glad they are picking up this game.

The SlapChop is disturbing...

…but I can’t get enough of the Billy Mays espn commercial. “Sports at work is better than work at work!” Still can’t figure out how someone could possibly need a gadget to crack an egg, though – that one baffles me.

Anyhow, I think the lack of PSU coverage in Pittsburgh is mainly due to the fact that no one in Pittsburgh really cares about basketball. Pitt gets ink just because it’s something to feel good about.

Slap Chop

He says “You’re gonna love my nuts” in that commercial, it is the funniest thing ever!

Justin is our friend

I like the fact that we can chat on there while we’re watching the game. The combination of watching the game and taking part in a live chat with other Penn Staters at the same time is like peanut butter and jelly. They just go together.

If anyone has directv you can add the sports pack for like 10$ for one month

And if you are a long time customer and call and say you would like to try it they will give it to you for free. I did this for Temple football and they actually gave it to me for 3 months free.

Why is the BTN not picking up NIT games with teams from the conference playing? Would the NIT be locked in to newtork contracts?

by WETSU on Mar 19, 2009 9:48 AM EDT reply actions

ESPN owns the NIT.

so other networks (FSN Pittsburgh) place bids to ESPN to broadcast individual games?

by WETSU on Mar 19, 2009 9:55 AM EDT up reply actions

On tvguide.com they list

ESPN2 having a 2nd round NIT Game. It will be either PSU/RI or ND/UNM. I couldn’t tell if if is regional telecast or national. Would be nice if the East coast got PSU.

The BTN

The Big Ten Network is totally immersed in the NCAA tournament today. We have seven teams playing in the next two days and they all want coverage. If the BTN took two hours out of primetime on the first day of the NCAA tournament to cover a second round NIT game there would probably be a revolt. And the ratings wouldn’t be nearly as good.

It could be a double edged sword too though

I’d say 99% of the ppl watching basketball are going to tune into CBS anyways. Why not show the PSU game and count on PSU and RI fans to tune in so you at least have some viewership. It’s like the BTN is counting on Big 10 fans to tune in for talk shows and highlights. Isn’t smarter to just tune into CBS to get all that plus basketball?

Am I the only one who things it's kind of funny

that the only place you might be able to watch the game is in a city that so venomously denies caring about PSU basketball? It’s interesting that with PSU bball being so poorly followed it is still economical to buy a second round NIT game and broadcast it there.

That being said, I hope rahpsu92 is right about ESPN.

Yes, but there's one catch

FSN Pittsburgh reaches a large portion of eastern PA, for some reason. I know it’s part of the basic cable package in Hazleton, at least.

When I was in college

we got Pittsburgh cable channels in State College. Is that still the case? FSN Pittsburgh probably reaches at least into 40% of the state.

Live Feed??

Is there a live feed online anywhere? I don’t have directTV and don’t want to go through the hassle of ordering it.

Or, better yet, anyone know of a bar in NYC to watch the game? You can have a drink on me if you do.

Harrisburg PSU Fans

Anyone heading out to watch the game somewhere? I was thinking the Aroogas on 22 (close to my spot). I’m sure they will have it on at least some of the TVs. Its really sad, I’ve found better PSU bars in DC../Northern VA than anywhere in PA.

We are not normal. We are legends.
