How's your BSD bracket entry going?

I know I could just look on twwl's website to see how everybody is doing, but I try to stay away from there as much as possible these days. I'd much rather just pop into BSD to see where I'm roughly at in the standings.  So if you want to, just keep each other updated on here.  Also, does anybody know if there is a prize for winning?

Looking good

Just missed on the LSU/Butler game, but I had Butler losing to UNC in the next round anyway, so no biggie.

4 for 7 right now

Dirty Maryland is my only miss so far

I’m sending LJ Sr after their crappy recruits in addition to all the good ones now.

This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi; you're my only hope.

9 for 11 now

Minnesota and Maryland were the weakest links. bah

Missed a few, but

Someone deserves special praise for being the only one to pick Washington as national champ.

Surprising amount of Purdue picks.

Yeah, and just about everyone on that Purdue team has at least one year left. Think about that when someone asks you who the favorite could be next year…

Sitting pretty

Just one wrong so far in a meaningless game for my bracket.

Can't believe it

I’m 10-12. First time I ever picked an entire bracket! I really wanted the Butler Bulldogs to whip LSU…Loss. I didn’t know Texas A&M was that good…..another loss. I should never pick a damn religious school, anyway.

Stupid Golden Gophers, at least I had them losing in the next round

I could give two

Yeah, I refused this year, b/c I couldn’t have PSU in the final 4. Whatever.

10-6

Ugly day for me. But I was fine until VCU came up a couple inches short vs UCLA. I went out on a real limb to put VCU in the Elite Eight, but they’re the only team I lost that I had advancing past the second round anyway. Memphis had me really worried for a bit there too, they’re my champ this year. It could’ve been really ugly…

Let's Go State!

Illinois and Minnesota, I hate you both and you both suck.

Luckily, there was no major damage.

Not too bad, me picking a team is usually the kiss of death

I think I was drunk...

for when I picked Miss St U over Washington….and BYU vs Texas A&M were my only two loses.

13/16

One Sweet 16 team out already, though (Illinois).

by SpartanDan on Mar 20, 2009 2:53 AM EDT reply actions

Got 13/16, too

Don’t know why I picked Illinois to win two games. PSU couldn’t get in, they beat Illinois twice and I pick the Illini to win two! What the hell was I thinking! So, I am already one down in round two!

by PaJoe on Mar 20, 2009 6:16 AM EDT reply actions

I have an iron clad rule

No team that lost to Penn State gets out of the sweet sixteen under any circumstances, and depending on their seed I usually have them as a first round out.

15/16

I think that was my best day one ever. Only missed on picking Butler over LSU. No major damage.

I knew Illinois was going to choke. They’re not the same team without Chester Frazier.

by BSD on Mar 20, 2009 7:31 AM EDT reply actions

Ugh, I didn't know Chester Frazier was out!!!!!!!!

Had I known that I would have picked WKU. Anyway, like you I was 15/16 with Illinois being my only loss so far. Day 1 doesn’t win you the bracket. It can kill your bracket but it can’t win it. Hopefully I get similar results on Day 2.

by RNF18 on Mar 20, 2009 9:36 AM EDT up reply actions

I had a hard time picking Big 10 teams that I thought were weak

against any significant opponents. I didn’t expect Illinois to lose in the first round, though (but did have them losing to Gonzaga in the second). My biggest “loss” was picking Cal over Maryland, since I also had Cal over Memphis (hopefully Maryland can beat them…I just don’t think Memphis is that good).

so yeah, I got 14/16, but I am also down one second round game already. And if you Memphis pickers are right, then my bracket is really gonna be ugly ;-)

Man, I was pretty proud of myself at 13/16

Then I looked on ESPN and found out I am tied for 1,046,425th place. What a bummer!

by PaJoe on Mar 20, 2009 8:42 AM EDT reply actions

well, you have to remember

there are millions and millions of brackets on ESPN. 13/16 is decent, but just by random chance there will still be MANY people with perfect brackets at this point, and many more with 1 or 2 misses.

by The JuggerNitt on Mar 20, 2009 9:04 AM EDT up reply actions

forget my espn password word

but if my BHGP bracket is any indication I should be sitting pretty. I’m tied for 1st there at 15-16 only missing the VCU-UCLA game but I had VCU losing next round anyways.

I am currently ranked

4,434,809th on ESPN.

My bracket looks like heaping pile of failure right now. I lost Wake Forest in the finals. And Pitt isn’t going to get there unless they get their head out of their arse soon.

by Joe 96alum on Mar 21, 2009 1:27 PM EDT reply actions

Flo-Rida State is F'ing me.

I had them beating Pitt. Otherwise, Nate Althouse’s Joy Ride is riding high!

I did as well

not because I expected it to happen, but because F Pitt.

I stopped really “trying” with my brackets this year. Every other year I would spend hours and hours coming up with ways to predict what teams will win and what teams will lose, and always wind up missing on the “upsets”, so this year I just said “screw it” and picked the way the middle aged soccer moms who always win the pools anyway do their picks: arbitrary fashion. Though I guess this wasn’t that arbitrary. I mostly just picked against teams I disliked, or that I felt screwed Penn State over somehow.
