Our next 5* QB

Looks like Scout has updated their rankings and our QB commit PJ Jones is the 3rd rated QB and a 5 Star. I know the star rating system is dumb, but it is nice to get one every now and then.

Hopefully this 5 star QB is not like our last 5 star QB...

We were blessed to get his committment this early

I just hope the coaches bring in some monster talent at the skill positions and use PJ’s early comitment as a recruiting selling point.

I’ll just say this: I really think there’s going to be some healthy competition between Newsome and this kid – but hopefully they RS PJ and let him get a year seperation between himself and Newsome.

PJ’s parents won’t demand the coaching staff not redshirt their son…ALA a QB that wore #14 during the 2004-2007 seasons.

while that would give him a 2 year separation from Newsome, who would be Newsome’s backup? McGloin is the answer but I’m not sure the staff would feel comfortable with McGloin if something were to happen to Newsome. It’s going to be interesting, that’s for sure!

I hope

we pull in another D Clark type this year and have him be the backup. Find an under-rated 2 or 3-star kid who loves the program and will work his tail off. It wouldn’t even be far-fetched to tell him he could beat out a 4 or 5 star kid for the spot — b/c Clark did.

Jones

will not redshirt unless he blows out a knee. him and Newsome will be one year apart. I think eventually Jones might push Newsome for the job, but by that point, Newsome might already be in JoePa’s good graces and won’t get yanked no matter what (QB 14 style)
