Ok, I obviously do not disagree with the fact that our non-con this year sucks, its awful and terrible. I do not have a problem with people pointing out that it sucks, because it does. However...I don't like my institution being basically called pussies because of it. Really journalists and bloggers? You can talk about the money, but why add this part? Is the schedule weak because PSU and Paterno are afraid of playing bigger teams? Thats why we have Bama coming? Have we never played big non conference games? I imagined the pigskin classics and playing MIami and Nebraska etc? (By the way, are these small schools scheduling multible BCS teams for the strength of schedule? No, for the money that they need to function)
Look, it is ALL about money and ONLY about money. Penn State and (as far as I can tell most other big time schools) play these games for the revenue they generate by having the extra home game. It is NOT because they are scared. Now they wouldn't schedule 4 huge games(that would be dumb), but 1 or 2. Period, its not for that extra win, which you are criticized for anyways.
There is no way you can convince me that we would not schedule a big time opponent every year(as opposed to every few years) if the money was there, no it is not right at all, and I hate it. But get it right, the lions and these other schools may be greedy, but they aren't "gunshy" "scared" or anything of the like.
Its just tiresome to hear and why is it that only the big ten seems to get blasted for this? Or am I imagining it?
