Lock in that 'W' against Michigan...

If it wasn't a lock before, I assure you it's a lock now.  SI is reporting that Rich Rod is looking to bring in... Greg Paulus to play QB for the Wolverines.

You may recall this is a guy who was highly touted as a HS QB, but who hasn't played football in four years.  So, clearly the 'Tate Forcier For Heisman' campaign is getting off to a slower start than expected.

I hope this is true, only so Odrick & Bowman can make this poor 180lb kid bleed from his eyes after pile-driving him into the turf.

"Those who stay, may not be champions, but they may sit the bench behind a back-up point guard from Duke"

Its a good thing

That Paulus has experience hitting the ground because that all he will see if he goes back to football.

Poor Taint Forcier

DickyRod wants to bring a flopper in…good luck!

This is equal to bringing in a minor league baseball player who hasn’t played football in 4 years….i guess Dicky forgot how it worked out when he brought in JR House…

Don't get cocky

Michigan simply owns us. It sucks and there’s no rational explanation for it, but there’s no other way to look at it either. One good win, which was a lot closer than any of us thought it’d be (for a half at least) doesn’t mean we’ve gotten the monkey off our collective backs. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they were our one loss next year . . .

Do I know what rhetorical means?

by NLseattle on Apr 15, 2009 10:16 AM EDT reply actions

They do not own us

1997: Domination
1998: Same
1999: A 4th quarter comeback does not count as ownage.
2000: We sucked, big deal
2001: We sucked, big deal
2002: Stolen
2005: Stolen
2006: Might have won if Morelli and Clark hadn’t been destroyed. We were still close at the end, anyway.
2007: Bullshit
2008: Win

So that’s two outright ownages, two bullshits, two we sucked, two stolen, one bullshit 4th quarter comeback, and an offensive line massacre.

Regardless, don’t say that they own us. With their being dominated by Ohio State, “We Own Penn State” is all they’ve got.

We’re not losing this year.

Personally

I know where you’re coming from, but I’ve never been a fan of excuses. We lost, we can’t make excuses. The only way we can make it better is by winning 8 in a row against them.

by STU Boy on Apr 15, 2009 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions

Yes, this is true

I just don’t want anyone saying that they “own us”. That’s not true, and it’s all they have left.

by ReadingRambler on Apr 15, 2009 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions

Ok fine

They don’t own us. They’ve just kicked our asses, often easily, even when we had the better team, for most of the past decade. So this year, when we’ll have the better team, it wouldn’t surprise me if they beat us.

It’s funny, one of my best friends is a scUM grad, and according to him michigan & fans don’t really give us a second thought. They care a lot more about osu and msu, and are befuddled (and amused) by how much of a ‘rivarly’ we think there is between the schools.

Do I know what rhetorical means?

Name me one year where we were the better team, and they beat us by more than 10.

Starting QB for the Army All American Game AND 3 year starter at Point Guard for Duke. Unreal.

Reported on ESPN Radio

Just in case you needed additional confirmation. I burst into laughter as they words “University of Michigan head coach Rich Roddriquez has contacted him about his additional year of college eligibility”

Like wow, things really are f’d up in Michigan.

Wow, I don't know if there are many things I hate more

than Michigan football and Duke basketball. hey, I have a great idea: let’s combine them!!!

yah i saw the "Fab 5" play at Duke in like 92

Scored free tix, didn’t want to go, got bullied into going anyway, and spent 2 hours hoping for every player on both team to tear their ACLs.

Cameron is a pretty insane venue though – imo it’s the college basketball equivalent of Beaver stadium. Too bad about the team that plays in it.

I was there once, in '89, I think.

My cousin was playing for Lehigh and they played at Duke. Surprisingly close game in the first half, total blowout in the 2nd. Unforgettable highlight was the father of a Lehigh player screaming at the referees so much that his dentures flew out of his mouth and onto the court.

How are JoePa's teeth doing?

Foreshadowing of a Saturday afternoon at the Beav 10 years from now? Seriously how great would that be? We all know its possible…if indeed Joe ever gets dentures.

I'm in Psychoville and Finkle's the Mayor!

Even Ray Finkle would look at RickRod and say “Whoa, now THAT guy is f**king nuts!” What the hell is going on up there? When I made the FanPost earlier about the three 4-star recruits, I could sort of understand the competition. But now they are bringing in a ringer? I’m going to regret saying this, but I’m actually a Duke fan and have nothing but respect for Paulus (he’s actually a great kid), but this is nuts. I feel bad for the UM faithful. Can you imagine Charlie Weis sitting in his motorized scooter thinking “well now that no one is paying attention to me, I can get some work done.” RickRod, what a mess.

now who is going to tell us that to win, you need to score more points than the other team.

Or that to score points, you need touchdowns. I’ll miss him

by letsgopsu on Apr 16, 2009 8:04 PM EDT up reply actions

on that note…at least they retired together…

Brett Farve and Madden I mean….maybe it was planned?

by ZugforPres on Apr 16, 2009 8:39 PM EDT up reply actions

A classic was in the past Super Bowl...

When Harrison returned the INT for a TD and they reviewed it ad naseum, Madden kept saying “Harrison made such a great run that even if they rule it is not a touchdown….they ought to give him a touchdown.” Now, IMHO, to say that once is kind of clever, but I think he said it multiple times.

Overall, I did learn a lot from Madden’s analysis, especially the telestrator! In a way, I will miss him, but there are new guns coming up.
