Rutgers Game Finalized

According to Rutgers the series will occur during the 2014-2015 seasons. PSU will travel in 2014 and stay home in 2015. I'm not as big of a fan of this series now that it doesn't coincide with the UVA series. I'm kinda nervous about this series turning into a Syracuse type situation. Hopefully PSU keeps adding quality games because they really should have 2 BCS opponents per OOC at least.

Mark it down

April 16th, 2009 we already realized this was going to blow up in our face ala Syrcause.

I like the thought process, i would have loved to play them earlier. I don’t want this to be our “Marquee” game in ’14 and ’15

quick someone

help me out

2010, 2011 – Alabama
2012, 2013 – UVA
2014, 2015 – Rutgers

Does this officially kill the Nebraska thing? Could we see Nebraska in there too, cause that wouldn’t be half bad.

NEB got Miami for the future so the writing was on the wall then.

terrible

I put this right there with having a home and home with pitt. doing this would be such a favor to rutgers, and it doesnt seem like it would be a marquee game wih national spotlight. it probably wont even get attention outside of us really

I have no problem with doing a home and home with any BCS opponent, especially one located where we have tons of alumni. Sure, I’d rather have a 2-1 deal if Rutgers would have gone for it, but I have no particular qualms with this. The big issue is that Rutgers absolutely should not be our “marquee” OOC game those seasons — we need to sign a true elite, name program to play as well. Otherwise, we risk the exact same crap that we have with playing Cuse right now if/wen Rutgers returns to their previous level of suckitude.

There’s no reason we can’t use the open spots in the schedule to play a decent second OOC opponent in 2014-15 (home in 2014 and going away in 2015).

that is what i was trying to get at

just based on recent history, this will be the only OOC team we schedule those years that people even know has a football team

Pitt has a bigger stadium...

but we can’t lock them down? Curley needs to rethink this whole scheduling if he thinks this is a “marquee” matchup..

"Tom Brady is not walking through that door, fans. Chad Henne is not walking through that door, and Brian Greise is not walking through that door. And if you expect them to walk through that door, they’re going to be gray and old. What we are is young, exciting, hard-working, and we’re going to improve. People don’t realize that, and as soon as they realize those three guys are not coming through that door, the better this town will be for all of us because there are young guys in that (locker) room playing their asses off.

Pitt

There’s no comparison — we offered Pitt the exact same 2 year deal (as we have done with BC, Syracuse, etc.) and Pitt turned it down and is only willing to sign a long term deal. That’s their fault, not ours.
