Thank You BSD
You know, as basketball season finally ends, and we roll into a hopefully quiet offseason after what has undoubtedly been one of the best years for sports in Happy Valley ever, I just want to thank everyone here; Mike, Kevin, RUTS, and all of BSD's great readers/commenters for making the season great. From the opening kickoff against Coastal in August to final buzzer tonight in the Garden, I've really enjoyed clicking over to BSD at least 12 times a day for the last year.
The open threads were great, the commentary was fantastic, and the discussions were second to none.
You know, I'll never forget the Saturday night before Selection Sunday when all I wanted to do was crawl into a hole and cry. BSD picked me up. The open thread that night was nothing short of a huge pick me up.
For a kid living in the Penn State hating Pittsburgh media market, its refreshing to have a place like this to discuss the Lions. I've never met a single one of you, but I can safely say I consider you friends, and look forward to maybe meeting some of you in the future.
I just want to thank you all for answering the question...
"...Maybe we can be awesome?..."
...with a resounding yes.
Thanks for the fanpost! Please do not post any content from a premium site that requires a subscription. Also, if you just want to share a link consider using fanshots instead. Thanks.

Very well said!
This blog and the people that make it up have provided a little digital slice of happy valley. It has been a great way to go through the excellent year that has been PSU athletics. It made adjusting to the west coast and the 9 am kickoffs much easier to handle.
Now perhaps my productivity at work can rebound as I might be able to cut back on the BSD checks to twice a day.

It's our pleasure.
It’s been absolutely great to see everybody fully invested in basketball season and all of the other stuff we’ve been covering here. If you look at our sitemeter, it’s pretty amazing that there hasn’t been much of a dropoff after football season. That’s a tribute to everyone who visits, because we’ve been able to sustain the traffic without any link-whoring from sites like Deadspin and other such internet giants, and only an occasional link from EDSBS. It’s all of you, coming back again and again, who make this site run. So thank you.
I shudder to think how many open threads per game we’ll need during football season. We may have to pre-schedule them to appear every half hour.

You guys truly kick ass,
and we thank you. The only way this site could improve is if RUTS comes out of the closet and admits his undying conservatism (even though that never comes up since his move here).
Just kiddin’, RUTS. You da meng! LOVE your sports stuff!
Thanks all – Ruts, Kevin, Mike, and the regular commenters. This is a bright spot in my day.
Extra special thanks to our female commenters. You ladies are the Webster’s definition of…….. wait for it……..

Fugi....I thought you were like the TinMan
No Heart! However, you stated that very eloquently. Even Tim Curley would be proud of you for your sentiment.
I am a relatively newby to BSD. Not around until Rose Bowl time. My first “big” event was NLOI signing day this year. I ’m now really hooked. Great job BSD!
Thanks Fugi for recognizing the great work at BSD.

This is definitely as much a community as a blog.
Or maybe they are the same thing now, I’m not sure. As a guy who was shouting into a blogspot with very little feedback for an entire season (and all of us were there at one point or another) I think I speak for the three of us when I say it’s the back and forth that makes this fun and keeps us interested in writing. You might have noticed I follow the trends in the newspaper industry with interest, and as much as I rag on bad journalism and talk about their failures, it’s a lack of a community like BSD that is leading to their downfall as much as anything else. Talking about what is going on is a lot more fun then being told the news and not being able to react.
So like RUTS said, thank you all.

Hey! I actually read that blogspot (granted, I gave exceptionally little feedback). I ended up here because you did.
But I do agree- when you’ve got a community of people that will end up planning a tailgate with internet strangers…well, that’s something special.

I am a relatively new comer as well….a buddy at work didn’t turn me on to this site until mid football season but nI have been hooked ever since. It was a perfect storm this year: BTN broadcasting games, the team being good and the people here talking about the game that made me a huge b-ball fan this year and for that I thank you all.
Just one sort of complaint/suggestion….as someone who checks the site from both home and work, and always logged in at both, is there anyway that the site won’t say 102 new comments when I log on at home and know that I read 93 of them at work?
by psupride on Apr 3, 2009 8:44 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs

Really?
I haven’t had that problem. Maybe only have one browser open at a time (close your browser when you leave work)?

hmmm
as long as you’re logged into your account before you read comments, the site should keep track of which comments you’ve read. then only mark ‘real new ones’ as unread

I will thank the three editors for joining
forces and saving me the trouble of reading all three of your blogs. I probably don’t get any more work done now, but I can settle into to less browsers.

the time by at work…illegally. But it does pass. When i’m sitting there chuckling at some funny comment…coworkers stare. I just reply, “it’s a penn state thing”.

I agree 110%
Thanks for keeping me posted on all things Penn State sports. It is the only thing that helps me through the work day and I’ve got a network of friends at expect me to keep them in the loop because of BSD!
I’ve been offline through this awesome b-ball finish (because I gave birth to my son, Brian Matthew on March 4th), but rest assured we’ve been cheering on our Nittany Lions through it all!! (He loved the last second ’Nova drive to beat Pitt!). Looking forward to Spring Practice and the ’09 Football season.
GO STATE!
PS: The Nittany Lions need just one more league win to clinch their 25th Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association regular-season title and secure home-court advantage throughout the EIVA playoffs, including the semifinals and Championship, slated for April 30 and May 2.

Or should that ‘Gradulations’?
Either way, we all welcome another young Nittany Lion into the fold.

Great picture!
Thanks for the CONGRADULATIONS. :) I have one of our little guy from the NIT championship, but not sure how to upload pics from my hard drive…. when I click on the image link it only allows me a url. Any suggestions?

Upload it to imageshack.us
And then click on the little tree icon, then copy/paste the URL to post it here at BSD.

A hearty here-here to BSD and all its bluandwhiteness, living roughly @ the half-way pt between pittsburgh and morgantown leaves little oppurtunity to dicuss PSU and the discovery of this site has given me an outlet to discuss, post, and more often than not sit back and soak it all in
