ESPN Gameday shakeup??

Thoughts on the changes? I like Herbstreit would be sad to see him go. Swapping out Corso for Droopy Dog is an even swap - plus I can see ESPN wanting to move away from the Dr. Nonsense segments from last year.

Can you tell us what the changes were? They forgot to change the page’s title which is “Lee Corso and Chris Fowler are out”

To be honest I think ESPN’s Gameday and College Football Tonight are both unwatchable. I can’t stand a single person on either of those programs outside of maybe Herbstreit.

Mark May and his dopey sidekick are both so schticky it’s hard not to understand how they will keep their jobs. Scripting for the Dr. Lou bits and the “trials” between May and Lou are just bottom rung.

Meanwhile Corso and Fowler on Gameday are both vapid talking heads, they bring nothing to the table (ok Corso brings his stupid pencil). They need to fill those seats with people that know the game and aren’t pedaling an agenda every week.

Both shows seem more about trying to influence the AP poll and generate raitings from the inflated rankings than anything else.

It was going to be...

Corso, Fowler and Herby out. Herby to all primetime commentating. Fowler I believe to the studio desk and Corso to the glue factory.

In was going to be Dr. Lou and Tommy Tuberville and 3rd seat TBA.

As a guy who has had

to wear a tie in every job I’ve had going back to when I was 16 (I thankfully didn’t have to wear one to deliver those 50lb Sunday newspapers when I was 12) I love to laugh at the “shorty” tie.

If we could couple the shorty tie with the polyester shortsleeve dress shirt and the tie being a zany novelty we would have, uh, well my brother.

Promoting Lou

Promoting Lou would be akin to that Seinfeld episode where Elaine promotes that crazy guy from the mailroom to VP because she is afraid to fire him.

I think you have to keep Corso on that show just to keep the crowd into it. He is totally the person you love to disagree with in a silly “he’s an idiot” type of way (as opposed to a Mark May “he’s a moron” way).
