New Birmingham Alabama Alumni Chapter

I hope that it's ok to post this. If not, then y'all can take it off. Birmingham is getting a new/revamped alumni chapter/Penn State club. Evidently there was a chapter here ages ago that went defunct. We've finally found someone to reorganize the chapter. Former Penn State football player, Buck Paolone (class of 58 or 59, I think) has stepped up and gotten things moving. His email announcement to those who were surveyed in Alabama and responded with interest is posted below.

PENN STATE ALUMS; we all need to gather for a get-acquainted session to re-establish our Bham/Ala chapter. Three of our alums (Chris & Elaine Beegle and son Todd) have offered one of their "On Tap" locations at Hoover Inverness for our meeting.

DATE: Sat 02 May 09 TIME: 3:30pm

PLACE: On Tap Sports Cafe-Inverness Corner (website - ww.ontapsportscafe.com)

Bring family / friends if so desired. Previously, it was tentative to meet during Blue-White spring game but this was dropped...no TV broadcast by Big Ten Network nor ESPN.

Seems PSU is not Alabama - but WE ARE...PENN STATE. So, we'll enjoy each other's company and revive fond memories.

I apologize for any errors or inaccurate entries. If you know of some who did not receive this e-mail, please have them contact me. My eyes became bleary from viewing computer info and from translating not-so-clear hand-written mailed replies. C'est LaVie

I would edit this post to use the word “at” and the word “dot” instead of the symobls in the email address in order to defeat any webbots. Otherwise that person is about to get a mountain of spam

Wow.

Bucky Paolone predates JoePa as the head coach (though he was on the staff). Proves there was football at Penn State before Joe! That was back in the Richie Lucas years but after the good Lenny Moore and Milt Plum teams (now there are names from the past).

I hope you guys get that chapter going. I hate to see the (very few) Alabama Hats or Shirts up here in PA. So, show your Penn State Pride in Birmingham.
