wow

at 6’2" 190 with that kind of speed? this kid was seriously under-rated by the recruiting sites.

I used to love reading track times

I have to really hustle to run my single miles at 9:43 pace, and that winner did two in the same time. Wouldn’t it be funny to see a bunch of tailgaters’ times in these events? I mean, I wonder if I could break 20 seconds for 100 meters. Seriously, what would our 200 time be?

Hey, this game is fun too and you can make it fun. --j. odrick

track times

I’m proud to say I finished in fourth place in the 110 hurdles in the Williamsport Area All City Middle School meet in 1988. Can’t say I remember my time, but that was 21 years and 50 lbs ago.

110 hurdles

Are no joke. That’s a hard race.

Can Gradulations be that retroactive?

I remember that race...

specifically because there were only 4 racers that day. The one kid kept tripping over the hurdles I thought he was going to break something. I thought it was nice that everyone got a ribbon for participation.

Just kidding of course (I was only in Williamsport a handfull of times and I am happry to say it was never to leer at middle school kids on track day. I did however closely describe my relationship with the hurdles – don’t even get me started on the steeplechase, kryke!!).

I held or still hold my HS's course record in XCountry

and now I can’t get 3 blocks down the street without huffing and puffing. As Mike mentioned below, that was 50 pounds ago and a lot of lost muscle.

I’d hate to see what I’d run in the 100, 200, or 400 these days. I’d probably pass out if I had to do a 400 at a reasonable pace these days and that’s if my hamstring didn’t decide to burst for the 3rd time in 5 years.

What was 'cross-country' then, or now?

5k? Or did it vary? I would love to figure out how to get down to 8min miles for 5k. Especially in a triathlon. I did one last weekend and couldn’t get faster than 10min miles for the 5k running part. I need more speedwork, I know, but don’t know if I’m committed enough to it.

You're confusing me with this

whole English/Metric system crossfade.

I propose that all future posts should be all metric or all English system. Just when I start warming up to the metric system I try to convert my land from acres to hectares and I get a bit cranky. I’m feeling all proud about my 2 acre lot which doesn’t seem nearly as important when stated as 0.8 hectares. Damn French.

It was 3 miles when I ran

It was in the early 90’s. I only ran for 2 years because I went back to playing football in my senior year.

I propose a BSD combine

Perhaps at a future tailgating event. BSD’ers run the 40.

a few years ago a few of my friends ran their own "combine"

just to see what they’d stack up to.

Quite embarassing when they were outran by O-linemen and out-benched by punters.
