Nitt Picks is Ready for the Weekend

Penn State is hosting their annual fantasy camp this week which gave the media an opportunity to have a chat with Paterno and senior captains Sean Lee and Daryll Clark. So this morning we have a panoply (my new word...learn it.) of articles to read through. They're mostly fluff articles so I'm just going to throw them at you with no commentary.

And here are some other links I thought you might find interesting to read.

Sorry

I took the lazy way out today and just threw the links up there. I should have another recruiting update for you all later in the day.

that's fine

I just can’t wait to see your new complete suit of armor…I assume it’s solid blue with a white helmet

wait….I don’t think that’s the definition of panoply you were using

Whoops

Didn’t see your post….disregard mine below.

Panoply
1. a wide-ranging and impressive array or display: the dazzling panoply of the maharaja’s procession; the panoply of European history.
2. a complete suit of armor.
3. a protective covering.
4. full ceremonial attire or paraphernalia; special dress and equipment.

Hmm, umm, you’re going with definition #2, right?

Of course

What did you think I meant?

by BSD on Jun 12, 2009 9:25 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm glad we all think alike

I was reading the post before I clicked on the comments, and was going to go for the suit of armor jab.

This is strange

But down town state college has such a unique odor (I read the musty smell link), it seems focused around Mclanahan’s. It was there 20 years ago and is still there, am I the only one who notices it and does anybody know where it emanates from?

Just a thought

Dried up puke on the sidewalks from people making the 2 AM trek from the bars and frats to McDonalds?

by BSD on Jun 12, 2009 11:29 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Cover for the smell! Finally!

I am stoked! I can buy a Penn State fragrance to cover up my house that smells worse and worse through the summer (NCAA football season) and then real football season. It is hard to find time to clean when all the action is going on – and now I won’t have to. Another brilliant invention!

Bama

At least they’re not losing schollies so they won’t feel the need to back out of our home and home series again. If we had to wait for them to get off of probation to play them the series might not ever happen.

That Philly article about Lee is 50 shades of awesome

Good for Scirrotto

(and Wine and Kelley, too – having your named called in any major sports draft is a far greater accomplishment than I can attest to at this point in my life.)

He’s got himself lined up with a team in Penn State South (Carolina), but the Royals are giving him a back-up plan just in case. Not to mention they’re basing this off of abilities he showed in high school. He’s the first Nittany Lion football player to be drafted in the MLB draft since O.J. McDuffie in 1991 (FTA), so kudos to him and his accomplishments!

O.J.

I didn’t realize O.J. was drafted. I remember D.J. Dozier played MLB and even made a brief stint in the majors with the Mets.

Pretty cool

I didn’t know that they used to have decent players in Queens!?

no, seriously though

the Mets suck. Learn to catch a pop-up, and try not to lose 15-0 so much.

Oh sure

That’s totally true.

Well

maybe in Pittsburgh that’s true.

Maybe, maybe not

I don’t really care. I’ve never cheered for the Pirates and I never will. Baseball bores me almost as much as soccer.

Baseball

I just go to the games for the beer, hot dogs, and nachos

by BSD on Jun 16, 2009 5:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Seriously

Going to a game is one thing, there’s always food. But the only time I can watch a baseball game on TV and actually be interested is if its a close game in the 8th inning, otherwise, I’m bored as hell.

You realize

you could probably save a good $60 by just staying at home and ordering those things, right?

Or, spend the $60 and get more than 2 beers….

oh Joe
“In all fairness, I said something without having all the answers. The problems it would cause with the schedule and things,” Paterno said. “Jim Delany has taken it upon himself to say, ‘Hey, let me look into it.’ He’s looking into it. Whatever Jim comes up with will be good for the conference.”

yea. right. like i believe him when he says that.

i like when joe sprinkles in these condescending positive statements regarding topics on which he has a strong opinion.

"I was looking for four things. Honesty, loyalty, trustworthiness and a man of character. Joe Paterno has all of that." - Derrick Williams

Penn State "Scent"

Honestly, if it doesn’t smell of cow manure, old leather from a worn out football used at tailgates, and cold Yuengling, they failed miserably at capturing the quintessential Penn State scent.
