BSD Student List
Jtot (maha) pointed out in the comments of his drinking post that DawsonPSU10 is a student, which I was not aware of. Who else is a student? Perhaps we could grab some stickies this fall? Or bacon? Post whatever information you deem appropriate for these internets. I was thinking about starting a Facebook group for all BSD students, too...I'll leave a full on BSD facebook group up to one of the elders. This post was 74 words before this sentence.
Thanks for the fanpost! Please do not post any content from a premium site that requires a subscription. Also, if you just want to share a link consider using fanshots instead. Thanks.

what is the use in facebook? Though I guess it is useful when notifying there is an update on the site, but there’s new material multiple times a day, so it is a safe bet that if you check here, there’ll be something.

My workplace has
a full on ban on social networks such a facebook. However, the ban on blogs was lifted earlier this year, so I can read and participate on BSD during my earning hours.
I’ve been able to access all teams on SBn that I’ve tried, save Missouri – for some reason the ban hammer at work hates Missouri and won’t allow me into Block M Nation.

the funny part was I didn’t realize that, when I’ve been doing the same thing (“befriending” football players) since I first started using facebook. In other words: I’m an idiot.
Funny story, back when Facebook wasn’t as popular, I sent a friend request to DWill, and a message came up that said, “Derrick Williams has too many friends right now” (at that point there was a 5000 friend limit or something, which I believe has changed.

I don’t think there is any way to verify people are who they say they are, is there? I can create a profile and say I am Graham Zug and throw up one of his pics. I have often wondered if they are the real guys or some dweeb pretending to be them.
That said, the only one I ever tried to friend is B’Ware La Flare and his posts are hysterical

Your bro is a lucky bastard, or at least has a fast internet connection
I’m known for complaining about student tickets on this site, and I promised to stop complaining, but I’ll retell my own history with the ticket system to help you guys out. I can’t tell you what to expect, since I don’t know how voracious the freshmen will be this year for tickets. However, the general trend so far is that the tickets have gone very slowly.
I got tickets my freshman year without any problems (and that was 06, a year after our B10 champ run).
Sophomore and junior year, however didn’t go as well. Sophomore year it wasn’t as organized a process as they have now. No pre-registration (although I don’t think there’s a prereg for freshman anyway), and no separate class sales. So they had every student that wanted tickets on ticketmaster at the same time and it was a disaster and tickets sold out in 90 secons.
Junior year they implemented the pre-reg and class sales. Went a little better, but I still didn’t get tickets because my class sold out in 60 seconds (The senior class didn’t sell out for 10 HOURS). The tickets were also not electronic, so students would pay 200 some dollars for season tickets and resell them on eBay for $1500.
This year if you’ve been following the sales at all, the tickets have been plentiful. Either because of the elimination of possible scalping or the bad economy, it has been extremely easy this year. The senior class didn’t sell out. The junior class took hours to sell out. I don’t know about sophs, but my sister got tickets this morning, so it must have been the same situation. I don’t know how it will be with freshman this year. Like my freshman year, you’re coming to PSU the year after a great football season. Obviously there are no guarantees.
A few tips:
1. Have everything ready to go for the sale (credit card/debit card, PSU ID#, etc. Whatever the Student Central site told you to have, make sure it’s right next to your computer). Whatever the Student Central site told you to do, make sure you follow it to the letter.
2. Get the official US time online, sometimes (like my comp clock was) the time is way off, which could be disastrous.
3. DL Firefox if you don’t use it already. Internet explorer’s glitchyness is what cost me tickets my soph year.
4. Be on the site early so you’re ready to go, and reload the site when it gets close to the time of the sale. They wont display anything on the Beav’s ticketmaster page until the sale begins, so you want to keep checking. But, DO NOT reload the site after you see the “waiting in line” thing, you’ll lose your place in line.
5. Relax. I have a feeling it’s not going to be a problem given how my sale went (and my class is the largest class in PSU history, and they didn’t even sell out), but even if you don’t get tickets, they’re planning to have a re-sale thing at some point, so you still might be able to get tickets to some games this Fall.
Best of luck, and welcome to PSU.

Dawson, I apologize in advance
But there’s nothing like a good bit of schadenfreude to start the Thursday off right!
Never had any issue with getting tickets for any of my four years. Then again, my first two years were the last two of the “dark years”.

No problem, IcersGuy
Looking back, I shouldn’t have been all that disappointed in losing tickets my sophomore year (the wonderful 2007 season), but I do wish I was able to be in the student section for 08. But oh well, it’s in the past, and I’ll be able to be there for my senior year now and hopefully have a good view of Pryor weeping after we win.
Honestly, I shouldn’t have whined and complained as much as I did over something so trivial, although important to me. Especially since I got to go to the games (sitting with my parents, of course), for those seasons anyway.
by dawsonPSU10 on Jun 25, 2009 2:39 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Actually
the senior class did sell out this year but I haven’t heard how fast or slow it was… the site did say they were sold out though
I’ve always had my tickets 2 minutes after the sale started for each of the last three years
DMF, just read the instructions, get on 15 minutes early… make sure you’re computer doesn’t need to install updates or anything ridiculous like that and you’ll be fine

Fret not, my friend
This site is always a good place to constantly check. None of the good games have tix available yet, but there’s always tickets available as the game gets closer and people realize they can’t go.
And the best part…all tickets are face value.
Also, don’t tell other people about this site…I don’t need any more competition trying to get tix. I just feel bad for you and understand your plight.
I bleed Blue and White.

Keep your head up, dude.
I’ve been in your place before like I said above, and I now it sucks balls. The bright side for you, is that the AD is planning a ticket resale policy for student tickets (from what I hear most likely for at face, or slightly more than face value, maybe less too for shitty games), they just haven’t solidified the details yet, but it’s TBC until August. You should be able to get tickets either through whatever system they set up, or insanely cheap from scalpers on gameday (only for the shitty games, obviously). If seeing Iowa (which I would recommend seeing because if you haven’t been to a white house game, it’s an incredible scene) or tOSU you may have to splurge a little bit on money to get a seat.

ALL IS NOT LOST
ive been going to games since i was about eight. my family buys season tickets that are in the old people section. but this year we could only get four games. so im guaranteed at least those four and i think they are all of the good ones.
i managed to buy student tickets for a friend (at 9:45 wtf) who only wants to go to half of the games so that guarantees all of the crappy games my dad sold. I refuse to miss a single home game my freshman season. i will sneak into the student section if i have to but im not missing these games.
oh and as to why i didn’t get my tickets in the first place it was because the deadline for the sale was may 15th and i didnt get to visit the campus and send my tuition deposit until the 29th. i dont see why they did that but i dont make the rules i just get crushed by them.

Congrats, Dmf
Sounds like you have the same back-up plan with your parents getting tix that I had for the two years I couldn’t get into the student section.
As for sneaking into the student section, I’ve never done it, so I don’t know what security will be like at the entrances to the section. However, if they give us some sort of slip at the door after scanning our cards so that the ushers can verify we’re in the right section, you might have a chance. If you know anyone who has tickets (and if you don’t have any PSU friends yet, you’ll undoubtedly meet some in the first week), have them grab one of the slips from one of their friends, and have them come down and meet you under the stands when you’re in the stadium. That way, you’ll both have a “ticket” saying you’re in that section and they’ll let you in.

I took 5 girls up from Bethel with me, and only one had ever been to a game before. A couple wanted to go see a friend in the Blue Band. Being the chivalrous man I am, I pointed at the Blue Band said “Go there”, and waved. Somehow they ended up IN the Blue Band for the entire 3rd quarter. So I wouldn’t worry about getting into the student section.
