Bacon Saves Marriot $$$$$$$
"Next time you order breakfast at a Marriott, you may notice something new about the bacon. Instead of being served in identical six-inch strips, it now comes in an assortment of sizes. That's because senior executives of Marriott, after sampling four or five varieties of bacon in a blind taste test, found that an irregular cut, which costs less, tastes just as good as the rectangular slices traditionally served in the company's hotels."

These people must be borderline retarded
Bacon tastes great no matter what shape it’s in. Why would any human being assume or refuse to buy a slice of bacon with a slightly irregular shape? What is the big freaking deal if you’ve got an irregular bacon piece. Is someone going to complain? It’s bacon. You cannot go wrong, so long is it’s a serving tray with just bacon in it and not some additive crap to mess it up.

yeah, I'm confused as well
they actually did a “test” to verify that bacon tastes good no matter what shape it is in? I call BS, and say these executives just wanted an excuse to eat bacon (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
Now there is some merit to thinking bacon would taste different based on different sizes/shapes, but that’s mostly due to cooking, and varying surface to volume ratios, but the biggest thing that will affect that would be the thickness, but it doesn’t seem like that varied too much in this. Also, I could imagine a bunch of guests thinking that all the small, irregularly shaped bacon were just leftovers, crumbs, and rejects, and shy away from eating it.

My thinking is this
they know people love bacon, no matter the shape/size. They reduced the size/amount of bacon and kept the price the same.
